KB935509 + vLite + Vista Ultimate x86 = Fail

Featured Replies

Newly registered here but I have been searching all over the internet for a solution, but have not yet found a direct answer.

First let me describe the problem. I have been trying to install KB935509 through the Windows Update, but every time it just fails. I am using Vista Ultimate edited using vLite.

I have tried multiple things to resolve the issue but none seem to work. I will list the following things I have tried to better remedy the situation for thoes who are in the same situation, if any.

I have tried manually downloading and installing KB935509 through the Micosoft website which kind of worked as after installation, the history shows that the updated sucessfully installed however the update still shows up on the list.

I am aware that there is a section that says what you can and cannot remove from your Vista in order to install SP1, does this also apply to this specific update (KB935509)? From what I have read online it almost seems as if I need bitlocker (which I removed in vLite) in order for the update to pass. Can any one confirm this?

To thoes who will suggest removing/updating Comodo firewall, I do not have it so it does not apply.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Update 935509 contains an update that you must have to correctly service Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption-capable computers. This update is applicable to only the following editions of Windows Vista that include Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption: • Windows Vista Enterprise

• Windows Vista Ultimate

so that is the reason you're having problems...is because you 'removed' bitlocker from your vlite installation. And there is no way that I know of to add it back, other than creating a new vlite install and not 'remove' bitlocker.

So as long as I leave bitlocker on the installation I should be okay? That is, I leave it on but not install/use/activate it since I do not use it.
