Is mapdrive still the way to reassign drive letters during unattended

Several years ago, I got onto this thread, and used this method to allow me to assign my own drive letters to partitions during unattended XP instal...

I remember it worked well.. but just wondered if this was still the preferred method, or is there a newer alternative?

I have always had a SYSCACHE drive on another disk, which I call X to which I move the pagefile, temp files etc.. I havent used mapdrive for a couple of years now, but it would be handy again to do this on my new systems....
