BPoller Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Hi,i planned to install a Win NT 4.0 Terminal-Server at home, so my kids could surf via ThinClients and let me save some money (less power consumtion). Now i saw a board message somewhere else that told me, that NT4.0 TS AND Win2k Server only use 256 Colors for clients. Is that true? How is it, if the clients have their own browser, could they use more colors?Cant believe, that i only can use 256 Colors with this professional ThinClients. Most companies use the internet, but i cant believe they only have 256 colors.... Please help me.Thanx and a happy New Year, Bjoern
jprice Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I can't really elaborate but that is correct. It is the reason that I am having to upgrade my server from 2K to 2k3 right now as we speak. ( I have a thread about term serv hanging). The application that is being used has some new features that are color specific and on my 2k box you can't see them so I am moving everything to 2k3.Sorry I couldn't offer a solution but I am confirming your issue.
BPoller Posted January 7, 2008 Author Posted January 7, 2008 I think i have read abou some ThinClients, which would use their own local browser fpr surfing the web.True?Do they have more colors (Hi-Color config on thinclient) then, even when using the NT TS having only 256?Thanx,B.Poller
cluberti Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 I've got a W2K box I'm connecting to that has me at 16 million colors - can't speak to NT4, but 2K seems to use up to 16 million.Check the RDP-Tcp connector properties in TS config - you may be able to configure it higher than that there.
