dangerpaki Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 (edited) hi guys,i am planning to get a new computer which will probably arrive in the following week. and i will be installing vista on it. vista 32 bit that is. because i will be using 2 GB of ram so i don't need 64 bit and it causes too much trouble with drivers so i am leaving out on that for now.but my question is what should i remove and what should i leave on my iso for vista.i will be using the vista for the following things:Gaming (UT3, PES 2008, Crysis etc etc)Office 2007MSNinternet using firefox for thatconnecting my mobile phone with windows mobile on itutorrentSPSS (statistics)playing MP3 and moviesnothing special to be honestthe hardware will be the following:MSI P35 Neo-F, S775, P35, 4xDDR2NEC AD-7191S 20x12x RAM,Kingston DChannel 2GB Kit, 2x1GB DDR2 PC2-5300Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2.20GHz, 800MHz, S775Club 3D Radeon 3850 256MB, 2xDVI, HDTVo, PCIeso my question is could someone please tell me what things i definitely should not remove or what services i definitely should not disable.thanks in advance.by the way i have worked with vlite before so i know how it works. it's just that i'm lacking the knowledge of what i can or cannot remove. i know i can probably start doing this and finding it out by trial and error but i'm sure someone else here has tried this before and it would be a waste of time to go through the same process again to find exactly the same results.--------------------------------------------------------------------EDIT:Ok i've made an iso with the following components removed until now. this is how it looks. and i have kept the things i needed.; vLite preset file[information]Version = 1.1 RC on 2.0.50727.312 Microsoft Windows NT 6.0.6000.0Target = Windows Vista ULTIMATE 32-bit - 6.0.6000.16386 - English (United States) [Compatibility]Halo 2Paint.NETAero GlassFile and printer sharing (Server)Scanners and Cameras[Components];# Accessories #AccessibilityPaintSnipping ToolSpeech SupportSystem InformationWelcome CenterWordpad;# Drivers #Display adaptersDiva ServerEthernet network adaptersModemsPrinters-ApolloPrinters-BrotherPrinters-CanonPrinters-CitizenPrinters-DellPrinters-DiconixPrinters-EpsonPrinters-Fuji XeroxPrinters-FujitsuPrinters-Generic printerPrinters-GestetnerPrinters-HPPrinters-IBMPrinters-InfotecPrinters-KonicaPrinters-Konica MinoltaPrinters-Kyocera MitaPrinters-LanierPrinters-LexmarkPrinters-MinoltaPrinters-Minolta-QMSPrinters-NECPrinters-NRGPrinters-OcePrinters-OkiPrinters-OkidataPrinters-OlivettiPrinters-PanasonicPrinters-QMSPrinters-RicohPrinters-SamsungPrinters-SavinPrinters-SeikoshaPrinters-SharpPrinters-SonyPrinters-StarPrinters-TallyPrinters-TektronixPrinters-Wipro ePeripheralsPrinters-XeroxQLogic Fibre Channel AdapterScannersSound controllers;# Games #Inbox GamesPremium Inbox Games;# Hardware Support #Fax SupportInternet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI)Smartcards;# Languages #JapaneseKoreanSimplified ChineseTraditional Chinese;# Multimedia #Media CenterMovie and DVD MakerMusic and Video samplesSample PicturesScreensaversSideShowWallpapersWindows CalendarWindows Photo Viewer;# Network #Connect to a Network ProjectorInternet ExplorerInternet Information Services (IIS)MSN InstallerRemote Desktop and AssistanceRemote Desktop ClientWindows Collaboration;# Services #Computer BrowserDiagnosticsDistributed Link Tracking ClientDNS ClientError ReportingMicrosoft DFS ReplicationOffline FilesReadyBoostRemote RegistryVolume Shadow CopyWebDAV (WebClient)Windows Remote ManagementWindows SearchWindows Time;# System #BitLocker Drive EncryptionDisk QuotaHelpIMAPIv2 Burning SupportMicrosoft AgentNatural LanguagePerformance CountersReliability and Performance MonitorSystem RestoreTablet PCWindows BackupWindows SAT (Performance Index)Zip Folder[Options]DEP (Data Execution Prevention) = DefaultUser Account Control (UAC) = DisabledAntiSpyware Realtime Protection = DefaultAutoPlay = EnabledPaging Executive = EnabledPower scheme = BalancedHibernation = OffMemory requirement = DefaultControl Panel - Classic View = DisabledShow hidden files and folders = NoShow protected operating system files = NoShow extensions for known file types = YesIE Phishing Filter = DefaultIE Phishing Verification Ballon Tips = Default[Protection][Drivers][unattended][Hotfixes][LanguagePacks] Edited January 4, 2008 by dangerpaki
nuhi Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Looks ok.Just not sure about the SRSS since I never used it, only possibility would be Performance Counters if it actually takes some statistics from the running machine. If it's you who is entering data then it's not related.
