Merry XMAS/Happy New Year to begin

I've mostly known old networking stuff from the Windows for Workgroups 3.11/Artisoft Lantastic/MS-DOS business setting days so probably more an admin than a programming hacker. Don't confuse that with cracker.

Don't know much about the hardware of any machine.

But a low budget (only one PC working), poor lighting and using nLite too much and ending screwing everything made me temporarily jump to Linux Mint 3.0 Light, but I've a lot of replacing Mint with Windows XP/Dual Booting with Arch Linux so learning stuff on this forum is the right beginning.
