I have a situation that one, or many of you may have experienced with an HP laptop (probibly the newer ones w/ Vista).Where can I get the drivers for my HP laptop, when it is not on HP's website ? (Keep reading for full story/ situation/ laptop specs)Here it is: I was all excited one day to finaly go out and by my self my own laptop (instead of using one from work, friends, etc.). I have always had a really nice tower computer, but never owned my own laptop. So to get to the point I whent right down to my local Best Buy store and purchased theHP dv6408nr laptop, here are the specs(before adding/ upgrading): ******Continue reading below specs*******http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...456〈=enProduct Name dv6408nr Product Number GA447UA#ABA Microprocessor 1.8 GHz AMD Turion ™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-56 Microprocessor Cache 512KB+512KB L2 Cache Memory 1024 MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) Memory Max Max supported 2048 MB Video Graphics NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA) Video Memory Up to 287 MB Hard Drive 160GB (5400 RPM) SATA Multimedia Drive LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support Display 15.4" WXGA High-Definition Brightview Widescreen (1280 X 800) Fax/Modem High speed 56k modem Network Card Integrated 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector) Wireless Connectivity 802.11b/g WLAN Multimedia Features HP Imprint Finish & Integrated Microphone Sound Altec Lansing Keyboard 101-key compatible & 2 Quick Launch Buttons - HP Quick Play Menu and DVD Pointing Device Touch Pad with On/Off button and dedicated vertical scroll Up/Down pad PC Card Slots 1 ExpressCard/54 Slot (also supports ExpressCard/34) External Ports 5-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader for Secure Digital cards, MultiMedia cards, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, or xD Picture cards 3 Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 2 Headphone out - 1 w/SPDIF Digital Audio & 1 stereo 1 microphone-in 1 VGA (15-pin) 1 TV-Out (S-video) 1 RJ-11 (modem) 1 RJ -45 (LAN) 1 notebook expansion port 3 1 IEEE 1394 Firewire (4-pin) 1 Consumer IR Dimensions 14.05" (L) x 10.12" (W) x 1" (min H)/1.56" (max H) Weight 6.8lbs Security Kensington® MicroSaver lock slot Power-on password Accepts 3rd party security lock devices Power 65W AC Adapter 6-Cell Lithium-Ion battery What's In The Box Mobile Stereo Earbud Headphones (1 pair)HP Mobile Remote Control SoftwareOperating System: Genuine Windows® Vista Home Premium After my changes:I upgraded to 2GB of ram, and I'm planning on switching out the hard drive to 7200, instead of the crappy 5400 speed.Anyways...so it came with Vista, (which most computer that you buy are now coming with). Mine came with Home Premium. So I play around a bitwith it and decide I didn't like it, at least not for a laptop, with going to college and all, a lot of compatiblity problems. So I already had a copy of WIN XP PRO, and so I put that on. After installing and setting it up, I looked in the device manager (as most people do) to see if there are any issues. I have never seen so many yellow ! and ? in my life. I thought no big deal, I will just go to HP's website and download the drivers for them. They don't have crap.. they have a tone, and all the stuff for Vista, BUT NOT XP. What the hell...you'd think it would be the other way around. Where can I get the drivers I need for my HP dv6408nr laptop. Sound card, card reader, etc.

severach Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Upgrading these Vista only systems to XP is a lot easier when you install from a CD you make with the Driverpacks in it.
