long booting

Hi,

After system POST, the booting to the desktop takes

more than about 5 minutes.

I think introducing an archaic floppy drive with IDE

interface for 144MB capacity has caused this booting delay.

However, I don't want to take away the 144MB floppy drive.

Could there be other reasons for this long booting?

By the way, the floppy drive is from Caleb and this company

is defunct already; I cannot try their driver if it has ever existed.

If you remove it temporarily, does the problem persist, or does the boot time improve?

There should be something logged in event viewer. Is it sticking on the welcome screen? If so what does it say when it sticks?
