Can someone help with this problem? I'ld like to be able to totally remove netbios from even installing, without causing problems with DHCP or anything else. I know it is possible to unbind things manually having looked at the tutorial at grc.com but I'd like to be able to do all this automatically. Can it be done just with registry settings or something?

I'd like to remove: netbios over tcp/ip, netbios helper, lmhosts lookup and anything else netbios related (services/hidden devices etc.)

I tried nLite but got errors in the event log afterwards so figured I'd do this manually somehow. A little help? :)

Since this was posted in the unattended forum you can modify the inf files to not install certain networking components. I dont remember what inf file installs netbios, but in general the inf's that start with net are related to networking. Netoc.inf lists most of the common networking inf's.

Yes I'ld like to remove it from an unattended install. So far the best I can come up with is using a registry file and script to automatically unbind netbios and disable the helper service. This plugs the open ports and everything I need working still works fine but if there is some way to just remove the stuff without it even installing that would be cool. Thanks for the clue!
