Hi everybody, is there a way to partition the hard drive before the actual windows installation ? I don t find information about it anywhere... In fact, I would like to have a WinXP CD which would automatically create my 3 partitions (using diskpart or anything), and then install the Nlited XP.

Anyone knows ?

If you have a working copy of XP, you can use the Disk Manager MMC snap-in to partition your hard drive. Just go to Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management and click on Disk Management in the left pane. After that, all you have to do is configure your unattended setup to use that partition.

Under Linux, if you are using Gnome you may be able to use GParted or QTParted for KDE.

Than you for your response, but I fear I wasn't clear enough... I have to install XP many times and would like to have my XP CD to automatically create 3 partitions of a defined size before launching the XP install. Do you know if it is possible ?

You can try a Diskpart script, see here.

However I do not recommend you do this during WinXP install.

Why not create the partitions once and forever and leave them as they are?

Related: it is quite common to run diskpart in a WinPE session before OS installation.
