zspacekcc Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I have just downloaded this program and for the life of me can't figure out what exactly it does or how to get it to do whatever it is that it does.I assume that this program makes a bootable copy of Vista (vlite), but what I want to know can I use this to make reinstall disk for my computer if i would ever need to reinstall vista and how exactly do I go about that?I have tried already and I can't get past the first screen asking where the vista install files are located at. Does this mean that I have to already have a set of install disks before I can start using this or can it work with the copy of Vista I already have installed on my computer? Am I missing a step somewhere. Does anyone have better documentation on this then the information available from vlite.net? Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
ZeDMaN Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 You need the Vista Installation DVD. vLite is a tool for customizing the Windows Vista installation before actually installing it.Main features are: hotfix, language pack and driver integrationcomponent removalunattended setuptweakssplit/merge Vista installation CDscreate ISO and burn bootable CD/DVDWindows Vista from Microsoft takes a lot of resources, we all know that. vLite provides you with an easy removal of the unwanted components in order to make Vista run faster and to your liking. This tool doesn't use any kind of hacking, all files and registry entries are protected as they would be if you install the unedited version only with the changes you select. It configures the installation directly before the installation, meaning you'll have to remake the ISO and reinstall it. This method is much cleaner, not to mention easier and more logical than doing it after installation on every reinstall.
