Scarecrow Man Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 As per the title, I am attempting to do an upgrade of XP Home to XP Pro. There is no problems doing this manually, but it would be quite nice to do it unattended as we must do 65 of them. What I have:XP Professional VLK (Volume License)XP Professional Upgrade Volume License CDSome knowledge of doing unattended installations from scratch w/ nLiteI can quite easily do a new install using an answer file, but the problem is I need this to be an in place upgrade. I know there is very limited questions during an upgrade which is why I assume this is quite simple.Setup must be started, upgrade selected instead of new install, insert product key, update setup and wait.Is it possible to do an unattended upgrade from home to pro?I Appreciate all input --SM
gosh Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Search ref.chm on NTUpgrade. This will upgrade any nt version to XP. And yes it will work, although you might want to run the xp upgrade advisor to make sure there's no compatibility problems. The only problems i've seen doing this is with OEM software that works fine on XP Home but doesn't work on XP Pro.-gosh
