Networking ME and XP...

I'm trying to get my network runnin with 3 XP comps and 1 ME comp, I'm having no problems with the 3 XP computers. I only cant get the ME computer to work right, because i can go from the ME computer to my XP computer but not the other way around (from here to the ME computer). Any ideas to fix this?

Have you got any forewall software running on the ME machine or do you have the xp firewall turned on, and have you used the network setup disk in the ME machine ?

Make sure that the XP machine has an account setup for the ME machine. Create a local account in XP and then log into the ME machine with that account.

What are the file systems on all the computers? XP works with FAT32 and NTFS, but ME doesnt recognize NTFS. If the XP computers are all NTFS, that may be part of the problem.

I may be wrong but I have no problem networking NTFS, FAT32, and FAT16 file systems. Currently I have all three networked, though the FAT16 was a bit tricky because I haven't used 95 in over 3 years.

I got them all to work fine. I think there might be problems if you are running a dual boot with ME and XP, but as far as networking and the file systems I think its ok to do....

Though again, I may be incorrect.

ONe thing are you using a router or Hub? Also, have you disabled the built in firewall for the XP to ME machine? ME should see your comp just fine.

What I would do is try to network ME and one XP machine. Tinker with it, change some of the IP configurations, try simple file sharing, as that is the one I have had the most success with.

Check those sites that I gave in my previous post, they really are good.

One more thing, can you ping bidirectionally from the ME machine?
