cumminbk Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Should i disable Parse of Autoexec.bat. Maybe a silly question but what does this do and in what situations would i want to parse this file or not. How would i know if this is needed in my system or its better to speed up my shutdown process without it?
VCC Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 You may want to disable ParseAutoexec if you do not have any reasons to use the Autoexec.bat file, if you have an old legacy app. that needs to use the autoexec.bat file for some reason (not often the case with Windows XP) then you would enable it.Check out this site, it has a good discription of the setting: http://www.xptuneup.com/tip0125.htmlook at # 104
cumminbk Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 when i performed a search on my xp system it did not locate a autoexec.bat file. It found autoexec.nt. Would this have any effect if i disabled the parsing of auotexec.bat. Is this file on my xp system?
cumminbk Posted October 17, 2007 Author Posted October 17, 2007 i learned autoexec.bat does not exist in xp so this tweak must not be for windows xp
Oleg_II Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 (edited) Turn on (uncheck the box) "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" in Control Panel > Folder Options > View and you will see the file on your system partition Edited October 18, 2007 by Oleg_II
