Hi every one,

I have xpSP2 and offfice xp running on P4 notebook with 1g ram 100G hard disk with 60g Free

When accessing the file menu and you click on the drive select window or change directory it takes forever.

I have run Registry machanic, made no diffs

I reinstalled office, made no diffs,

I have the same problem on one of my home PC,s

I reinstalled every thing and that fixed it.

Good and well, but I am out of office a lot and cant afford the down time

any ideas

the first thing i would try is to look for all available updates and service packs for office XP.

I had a similar problem. Office XP is very slow when I want to browse the drives. I finally found out that my problem was that I had a mapped network drive that was not available at that time. So when I deleted the mapped drive, things are back to normal.

I found this out after re-installing drive C from back-up images MANY TIMES !!!

Hope this posting will help many people save a lot of time and trouble.
