error with Eftp3client addon

When I try to test my Eftp3client addon by accessing an ftp site I get a No Data 500 (Winsock Error #11004) error. I have tried accessing the Eftp test site and other sites that should work, used bunches of different configurations, and even tried going on the Eftp forums (which are down as a result of hacking). I have also tried using a search engine to search for the phrase "Winsock Error #11004" and the information I've found is only that I'm making mistakes in the hostname. My OS is XP Pro x86. Please help.
