NathanWarden Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 (edited) Hello everybody, I'm new to this server administration stuff. I'm very computer savvy, but, it seams like I walked into a whole new world with managing a server. Just before I took on this job (it's not my real job, just a secondary function) we switched our server over to another machine. Anyway, I'm having two major problems: 1) I don't know how to copy all of the old company web database. I tried using the "smigrate" program, but the problem is that I need access to the old web page which I don't know how to access it. I type in http://companyweb/ and it gives me the "page cannot be found error" 2) This is probably related to the first problem, I can see the "Company Web" page on the new server, but, I can't see it on any of the computers on the network. They can see the server and have the new server as a DNS address. edit: I'm using Windows Small Business Server 2003Any help would be great. Thanks!Nathan Warden Edited September 26, 2007 by NathanWarden
aspenjim Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Frontpage has a backup and restore function. companyweb is a sharepoint database and all SBS OS's come with a legal copy of frontpage, that works perfect for moving the database between servers....http://msmvps.com/blogs/cgross/archive/2006/03/31/88760.aspxHope that helps. Should be alot of examples on google.
