some vista problems

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a

vista home basic (32BIT)

geforce 8800 gts 320 msi OC (162.22 drivers)

Intel core 2 e6750

2G ram

450w PSU

Optiarc AD5170A DVD ROM 6X

The most serious problem is the fact that i cannot erase DVD-RW I tried Nero 7(ver 10) windows own burning program

and DVDinfopro.

I tried erasing the same DVD-RW on my other computer xp and it worked fine.

I tried using a new TDK DVD-RW(4X RW2) and still the same problem.

I installed the latest DVD firmware still doesn't help.

Is it a vista bug?(I installed the latest windows fixes,it also happened before that mind.)

Another problem is with the Nvidia uninstallation process, for some reason

when i uninstall the Nvidia drivers from ADD/REMOVE a BSD(Blue screen) appears saying there is

a BIOS ERORR and the computer restarts.

The drivers do get removed but this BSD isnt supposed to happen.

the last issue is again with Nvidia drivers, whenever i play World in conflict it crashes after a while

with the "nvlddmkm stopped responding and restored" ,it also happens with LOST PLANET DX10 demo.

While it is a problem in itself the main issue is the fact that afterwards each Hardware acclerated game i try to play

make the screen blink and repeat the same driver error, the game still works but crashes each couple of minutes.

I need to restart my computer in order to play without this error.

And this isn't supposed to happen after the last vista preformance update.

Is it a World in conflict problem? DX10? or a driver/vista problem?

hope someone resolved those issues.

When is the last time you performed a BIOS update?

When is the last time you performed a BIOS update?

Seeing that the setup is pretty new, I doubt that a BIOS update is necessary. The cause is most likely due to the (badly written) nvidia drivers.
