bdc22 Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Hey I heard about this tool and didn't want to buy a floppy to be able to install Windows XP. After downloading (what i think is) the RAID driver for my hard drive, I integrated the driver using nLite and made it an ISO then burned. Booting from CD, I then attempted to install XP. Instead of finally being able to get the installer to recognize my hard drive as I had hoped, I still received a STOP 0x0000007B error. I'm not completely sure if I have the correct drivers for my hard drive, but I'm almost sure. I own a Western Digital 500 GB SATA hard drive with the model number WD5000AAJShttp://support.wdc.com/download/index.asp?...=15&swid=10From this page, selecting "WD Serial ATA RAID Controller Card Driver" seems to be the driver i need to install XP. Can someone please confirm this for me? Am I doing something wrong or missing a step? I've burnt so many CDs.. I just want XP to run. Thanks.
Fernando 1 Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 The driver you have used is a very old (dated May 2004) Raid driver and only useful with a Promise Raid Controller (FastTrak TX4000/S150 TX Series). The SataRaid driver you need doesn't depend on the details of your hdd, but on the details of the Raid Controller of your mainboard.Look onto your mainboard and into your mainboard manual and post, which RAID Controller you are using (for example nForce4, Intel ICH8R, Silicon Image 3112 etc.).Then we will help you to find the suitable SataRaid driver for the integration into a bootable XP-CD by using nLite.
bdc22 Posted August 13, 2007 Author Posted August 13, 2007 I am using an Intel® ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller. I'm looking for drivers on their (Intel's) site but am having trouble finding some..
Fernando 1 Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 (edited) I am using an Intel® ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller. I'm looking for drivers on their (Intel's) site but am having trouble finding some..You will find the needed drivers within the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. Here is the link.To make the driver integration easier for you I have uploaded just the needed Intel ICH8R/ICH9R SataRaid drivers. You may take it from here. Edited August 13, 2007 by Fernando 1
buzzbee Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 FernandoThank you for providing the link. I am a novice with nlite, once I integrate the files and make the new slipstreamed and integrated install CD, do I have to do anything else during the install to install the drivers or are they installed automatically.
Fernando 1 Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 once I integrate the files and make the new slipstreamed and integrated install CD, do I have to do anything else during the install to install the drivers or are they installed automatically. The Intel ICH8R/9R SataRaid drivers will be automaticly installed during the Windows XP Setup procedure.Nevertheless I recommend to run the iata76_cd.exe after the complete XP installation (to get all functions of the Intel Matrix Storage manager).
