bassgoonist
When I tell my computer to restart it will get to the "windows is shutting down" screen, but it never gets beyond that. It will sit there for hours (4 hours in once case) when I tell it to restart. This is a huge pain and I have no idea how to fix it. Any suggestions welcome. cluberti
If you boot into safe mode, does it reboot properly from there?
LeveL
Might be some conflict with your motherboard's ACPI and Vista. Then again Vista in itself is just one huge conflict IMO, why even run it, I know of nosingle reason apart from DirectX10 games (which are not even out yet anyway).Check to see if your motherboard is listed:http://winqual.microsoft.com/HCL/BrowserNotSupported.htmlHow absolutely typical that I visit that link in Firefox and I get the following:Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility ListThe Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List is currently only compatiblewith Internet Explorer 6 and above. We apologize for the inconvenience.Swear to god I am not making that up - yes folks its a hardware compatibility listthat is not compatible with my browser!Leaves me speechless that kind of stuff, I mean come on, its a hardware compatibilitylist, right? Its not compatible with my browser and I cannot view it? I am gonna wakeup in a minute...
bassgoonist
Ok, I think its hung processes that's stopping my reboots. Task manager can't even kill the processes....Anyone know what this means? "An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom1 during a paging operation."I have a samsung sata dvd-rw that I believe is giving that error a lot in event viewer.
