ceez Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Hey there fellow msfn'ers!we have a network share at work called 'common'. The problem I am having is that the users tell me that they cannot delete the files they copy in this share. What permission should I give it?Under share permissions I have all the Domain Users as well as the Everyone group wth ALLOW checked on Full Control, Change & ReadUnder the Security tab I have:Admin Group (Domain\Admin Group): full controlCREATOR OWNER : noneSYSTEM : full controllAdministrators (Local machine\administrator) : fullUsers (local machine\users) : Read & Execute : List Folder Contents : ReadWhat permission do i set so they can delete their own files that they place anywhere within this share?thanks for your help and time, ceez
TravisO Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 There's a type called CREATOR OWNER that should be given FULL permission, as you want the owner, but not any user, to manipulate their own files.
ceez Posted August 2, 2007 Author Posted August 2, 2007 thanks for the reply, but would this be under the sharing tab or under the security tab?thanks again, ceez
cluberti Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Generally, I like to set the share permissions as open as possible (everyone / full control, if I can) and tighten things down at the security (ntfs) level.
