recvfrom hangs waiting for a udp response from a different subnet

i have a program running on winpe 2.0.

This talks to dhcp server to recieve certain scope options.

It constructs and sends the dhcp request all right.

and then it binds to the dhcp client port to read the response from the dhcp server.

this is done in a recvfrom call on the udp port.

however, this call never returns.

the dhcp server that i am talking to is on a different subnet.

What could be the problem?

if i do this from a normal xp machine it just works fine.

Any help/pointers would be appreciated.

Have you turned the firewall off?
