sonnet Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 (edited) Hi as per topic I want ask about the following components that I wish to remove but I'm not sure:1)Windows portable Devices (in hardware support ):I didn't understand in the description if this is necessary to import the photo from cameras (I don't use windows media player )into the pc.2)Windows Photo gallery:again I have a camera and even a scanner, this component is absolutely necessary if I want import images from the scanner or cameras3)Windows Firewall-computer browser-Internet connection sharing:I'm found on google that these components are not necessary (though they improve security of the system ) to make function the system correctly (but tell me if I'm wrong ) I don't know if these components are necessary to link 2 pc (a laptop with vista.and a desktop with vista ) in lan configuration or in some alternative way(I have a router also I could use to connect the 2 pc) Edited July 25, 2007 by sonnet
nuhi Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 1. Some people reported that their driver for the camera failed to install with this removed. And I can confirm it's needed.2. Is this a note? Do I have to change the description, I thought it's clear enough?3. Function in what way? You can remove all components and it will still function, network included. But if you need Computer browser (the list of networked pcs on the Network Hood) then keep them. I remove them because I browse other pcs on the network manually in the address bar \\ComputerName

nuhi Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 That's debatable. I think that gallery can show videos aside from pictures, it gives me a multimedia vibe, I can move it to hardware support if that is more appropriate. It is red and in the description it says for what it is needed.
