How do I assign a program to open hyperlinks?

Hello, I am using Offices XP 2002 and for some reason all the Office programs cannot open hyperlinks. In Word I get an error that tells me that no program is registered to open this file. In Outlook, nothing at all happens. I have read elsewhere that I should be able to hold down the shift button while I click on the link and should will give me the option to assign a software to open the hyperlinks. Unfortunately, this does not do anything either. I would greatly appreciate any help in this matter because my business cannot function without being able to click hyperlinks in my e-mails. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Open your browser and find the option to "set as default browser." That is what you want.

Here is a manual way to reset your file association...

Open your browser

Go to an .html web page

Save that page to your drive

Using Explorer (not IE), find that file and right click on it

- Choose Open With...

- Choose Choose Program

- Find your browser in the list and select it

That will set your assocation for .html files. You'll have to do this for all the extensions you want.
