ExcellentGuy Posted July 23, 2007 Posted July 23, 2007 Hi all, I would like to if there is any way i can create portable versions of the most commonly used applications? Thanks
spacesurfer Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 expensive solution: thinstalleasier solution: install, relocate program files in program files dir, hope it runs from relocated place. most small apps can be run in portable manner in such way without any registry entries except license info. i run ultraiso, pe explorer, mass downloader, microangelo, active file recovery, winimage, and winrar as portable applications - they are relatively small programs with minimal reg entries and so will run. some of these will create the default reg entries if they are missing.then there are portable applications such as firefox, filezilla, and vlc player found at portableapps.com
MHz Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Also a good list of some portable applications at http://www.portablefreeware.com/
DigeratiPrime Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Use Universal Extractor to unpack installers, that way you dont need to install programs to begin with to get the files. It also gives a clue about where files are being copied during an install.http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=62418
