GTOOOOOH Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 I'm having a problem with something, I thought it was nLite initially, but now I'm not sure. I've read the past topics on this and have tried a few things to correct it to no avail. Here's the problem... I slipstream a bunch of stuff to an XPSP2 build, when I let nLite build the iso, and then burn it I have no problems... however when I have nLite just create my installation directory, then burn it, XP thinks I'm missing some files:cyclad-z.in_cyclom-y.in_minipl~1.wm_utopia~1.wa_utopia~2.wa_utopia~3.wa_utopia~4.wa_sv-262e1.pn_sv-262e3.pn_sv-262e4.pn_So... I noticed when Nero burns my disc with my custom boot sector, it burns the files without hyphens(-) or tildes(~). After all the searching it seems this is because of some Joliet burning format nonsense... well I've tried EVERY setting Nero has, nothing works. I tried GUI CDImage program, that didn't work... so what's the deal? I can have my bootsector rename the files after I copy the i386 to C:, but that's a quick fix, I want a REAL solution ya know? I don't get why this is suddenly a problem.Help please.
nuhi Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 What is the difference between:-when I let nLite build the iso, and then burn it I have no problems-when I have nLite just create my installation directory, then burn it, XP thinks I'm missing some files
GTOOOOOH Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 When nLite builds the ISO and I burn it, everything is fine. However a few times I had to take the ISO, extract all the info, make some changes that nLite doesn't do, and then burn the extrated/altered data... I know this is where the problem is, however I can't seem to overcome it. When I watch Nero burn the ISO, it burns it as JOLIET... I can't seem to recreate this with Nero on my own, and that's my problem.
nuhi Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 First why even extract the ISO, don't make one until needed, just modify the folder and when all the changes are done then make the ISO.You can just select ISO page in nLite any time and make an ISO or burn it without any changes. If you must extract ISO and that's where you loose the long names (I don't with Winrar) then try mounting it with Daemon Tools for example and then you can simply copy the files from the virtual drive.
GTOOOOOH Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 I'll try it mounting it thanks. Do you know the Nero settings to get the proper Joliet settings?
nuhi Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Why bother.Make ISO with nLite and burn ISO with Nero (Recorder-Burn Image) if you want to burn with it.I keep Nero at default settings, there is only one with the Joliet in name.
GTOOOOOH Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 (edited) Here's what I'm trying to do, I'm trying to combine a WinPE bootable CD/DVD with my newly created nLite build... the purpose, to boot into winpe, fdisk/format/install using winnt32 with the winnt.sif that nLite creates... that's my end result... I've just now used ISOBuster to open the WinPE disk I made, took it's bootsector and assoctiated file structure, added it to the nLite source, and set the bootsector to custom, and the extracted .img for the bootsector. I let nLite make the ISO, and I'm now burning it... I'm HOPING this works but... ?Is there an easier way? Should I just use a winbom.ini, have I missed a step or a config piece, maybe a 3rd party tool, etc... ? Edited July 17, 2007 by GTOOOOOH
GTOOOOOH Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 Ok, well, it worked, nlite + winpe for the win.
