Bad boy Warrior Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 I have an account that i would like to hide when any user types control userpasswords2 ive already hidden it using a reg hack HLKM>Software>Microsoft>Windows NT>Current Version>Special accounts and giving the account name a Dword value of 0 but this hides it from the main logon screen but not when a user types control userpasswords2.Any way around this? Thanks
Idontwantspam Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 (edited) I doubt it. Highly doubt it. Also, it would still appear in lusrmgr.msc. And they could see the reg hack. Why do you want to hide this user? Because it's possible there's other ways to do whatever you're trying to do.EDIT:Actually, you could set a group policy to prevent access to Control Userpasswords2 at all. It's in User Config > Administrative templates > Control Panel; Hide specified control panel applets. I think that would work. Edited July 14, 2007 by Idontwantspam
Bad boy Warrior Posted July 15, 2007 Author Posted July 15, 2007 Thanks for that. I cant use GP as its a home edition PC. What i want to do is hide the account so any other admins cannot delete it or view it. Or at least not delete the account so if i can put a "read only" tag onto this account that may just do the trick.....Thanks
Idontwantspam Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Hmm. Well, you could make their folder in /documents and setting/%username% be private, but they could still be deleted. I don't know if that's possible or not. Maybe with AD, but not with a local computer I don't think.
Bad boy Warrior Posted July 18, 2007 Author Posted July 18, 2007 you could delete/reg hack keymgr.dll-goshWhat do you mean by this and what will it do??
