Hi all,

I tried and tried installing according to ms hotfix combination mode, but the os allways locks the boot screen on the first post install boot.

Setuperr.log only starts to fill on the very last run of the progress bar and according to it, setup can't find the appropriate catalogs, so booting the os fails, but all the files were installed.

I've run out of clues. Can someone help me on this?

I've yet to try any of the methods described here, hopefully ms knows something about installing it's oses and it's me who's missing something?

While at it, if someone could explain me why the screen resolution, network components and "optional" components settings are ignored by setup (doesn't matter wheter there's "", spaces or whatever), I'll would also be grateful - screen resolution always gets set to the monitor default (1280x1024), which sucks on a crt, network always tries to install the default components (tcp, qos, msnet) and the optional components are also all instaled, always.

these are my svcpack.inf and unattend.txt/winnt.sif (I'll save you dosnet.inf, but there's nothing wrong with it, all entries are there, I'm absolutly sure) - the install switches were taken from the installers with /? and qchain isn't needed with this setup.

The only useful comment I can make is that you can't install 817778 during anytime other than during the RunOnce part of setup. It relies on the windows shell running.

RyanVM: I had yet to try installing q817778 along with Windows, thanx for the reminder anyway.

GreenMachine: I'll try your suggestion, thanx.

See ya,

Carlos

Ok, it worked! :)

Now, I just have to find why setup won't install my components, display and networking settings.
