OK guys and others. :D

I'm curious which Updates I really need? Should I just install all of them? I already have Windows XP SP2, and I know there are like 80 +/- updates. Also someone told me I should remove Microsoft Java Virtual Machine and install Sun JAVA, is this needed with Windows XP SP2?

I recommend using RyanVM's PostSP2 update pack and integrating it into your installation CD prior to installing Windows.

This will save you serious time post installation preforming updates. The pack is easy to use and can be integrated with NLite, which can also create a bootable ISO image for you once the updates have been applied.

NLite is a powerful tool and has many uses (for which this site has plenty of info on usage), but using it to install the update pack and create the ISO requires little more than basic know-how and is pretty straight forward and easy to do.

I've used RyanVM packs. But now, I've switched to letting nlite slipstream my updates. I downloaded them from MS website. Took some time but worth downloading them. That way, I can control which one I want integrated.

There are some additional ones that I like to integrate, such as the DST update, Link Layer Topology Discovery update (this one is for letting Vista PC's see your XP pc).

You could also try Autopatcher for Windows XP.

I frequently used it when I worked at a local tech shop. They liked it so much they had me help them get it for usage.
