How do I automate a shortcut to a VPN connection?

I'm trying to add a desktop shortcut to my works VPN connection and I'm not having any joy. I've tried copying the shortcut to the guid number from an existing install but it doesn't seem to want to resolve properly, is there a correct way of making the shortcut?
