Hello! I recently got a WiFi232 serial modem for vintage computers from Paul Rickards at biorhythm.com, with the intent of setting up mock dial-up networking on DOS and Windows 98. All the videos and articles I've seen point to this installation being one of the easiest and quickest out there, but I'm having a good bit of trouble. Maybe I'm not thinking about the configuration correctly, but it would seem that my Dell Dimension 4100's LPT port is not recognized as a COM port - and thus, every terminal program I've tried so far has failed to recognize anything connected. Per the instructions, I set the baud rate to 1200, set the terminal to ANSI, and tried every port that each emulator had as an option - to no avail. In both DOS and Windows, everything expects a COM port; I even tried the built-in web server, but when I got my home WiFi SSID and password entered, the network for the Wifi232 disappeared and is now inaccessible. Frankly, I'm stumped. Anybody have any pointers? Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone! I am new-ish to winpe 10 and i don't understand a lot but i have tried a huge lot of things before finally giving up and coming to this website and writing this very message. I have been trying to complete a project of command line winpe 10 with wifi and custom commands for over a year now and i just cannot for the love of god able to connect winpe 10 to wifi. I totally give up now i have followed about 30 tutorials on how to connect winpe 10 to wifi which all of them failed. This is a last ditch effort for me can someone please give me a vanilla winpe 10 with just wireless and Ethernet drivers already in it? whoever you are will help me a lot and god may bless your soul. trust me when i say i have searched and searched for over a year now and cannot find a premade vanilla winpe with just wireless drivers always this other junk included with it. it may feel like I'm just here to get the easy way out and being lazy but honestly I'm exhausted. Hi! I've just built a Win98 macchine, based on a MS6163 motherboard, a Coppermine Celeron 1000MHz on slotket, 128MB of RAM, nVidia GeForce4 MX440 GPU, SoundBlaster AWE64 sound card. I mainly use this machine with Impulse Tracker and Audacity and I usually download IT, MOD, S3M, WAV and MP3 files from a FTP server on the Web. This PC can't be connected via Ethernet to the router because is located in a different room, so I'd like to install a WLAN card. I round many cards: - PCI Atheros AR5005GS: can't find Win9x drivers - PCI Intellinet Wireless G Network Adapter (Ralink RT2560 chip): set up driver and utility, but in Device Manager shows a Code 10 error and the utility can't find the card. Tried many versions, none worked. - USB ZyXEL G-202: on attached disk, there wasn't 9x driver, but the box and the user guide say that it is fully compatible with 98SE and ME. ZyXEL website provides driver, but no Wireless utility. Code 10 in Device Manager. - PCI USRobotics Wireless G Turbo Adapter: found driver and utility, Code 10. No adapter worked. I did a last try: RTL8193 Fast Ethernet PCI card. Code 10, Realtek diag tool doesn't detect the card. Then, Kingston KNE20BT 10BaseT ISA card, Code 10. Same thing with RTL8026AS ISA Adapter. The same 98 setup disk has been used on my old Latuitude XPi P133ST. Network stuff is OK and I used a PCMCIA Fast Ethernet card, until the CPU stopped working. What can I do? I’m trying to activate wifi device over win pe 5.0. I used this page to start: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/162453-winpe-40-enable-wireless-support/ I used the files from Win 8. The problem is that I’m failing to start the “wlansvc” service, I’m getting this error: ERROR_SERVICE_NOT_IN_EXE 1083 (0x43B) The executable program that this service is configured to run in does not implement the service. I saw that someone run into similar problem here: http://reboot.pro/topic/4022-vistape-and-wireless-update-35/page-3 Do you know why this error occurs? Do you know how I should add and start wlansvc correctly?
