  1. Hi there, i've been spending a while making my own all-in 1 XP DVD and the last few test burns did exactly the same thing. As well as installing stuff like firewalls, & all those lovely add-ons those cleaver people have made, i've put OFFICE in there and created my own .cmd files that alter both the order of and the icons for folders in the Start Menu. i also altered a lot of system/drive icons too. sorry, rambling... anyways for some reason some of the services didn't start like you say. i think it all came down to what i was installing after the 1st main reboot after XP had finished installing itself, or something and BASICALLY the machine needed ANOTHER restart to get those services working in the last cmd file (called cleanup) i put the line: ECHO. ECHO Restarting the PC in 1 minute... shutdown.exe -r -f -t 60 -c "Windows XP will now restart in 1 minute, this will give enough time for the shortcuts to update and for the shell to fully load before its ready to restart!" then issued some clean up commands (delete temp files, move etc) and this seemed to work ok for for that install (well i restarted by hand...i wasnt going to waste both another DVD & the long time to install the stuff again, but i strongly believe it 2b the prob' on mine) hope this helps
  2. managed to work out a gr8 fix. i'll try and post as soon as i get my unattended dvd going if i may. thanx anyhow
  3. hi is there any1 out there can help me with a rather newbi related problem pls? Using nlite to slipstream SP2 & hotfixes etc into an updated install CD i have no prob with. ______ using the OEM folder structure ive included a folder called $OEM$\$1\icons where i keep a handfull of easy to see icons that will (for a start) relate to a .reg file i'm going to activate with the cmdlined.txt file (sitting in the $OEM$ folder) that includes the lines: [COMMANDS] "REGEDIT /S ALL_icon_changes_NEW.reg" this regfile alters the My computer/My documents/control panel/trash bin icons (the reg file will also sit in the $OEM$ folder) ______ But i've come up to a problem transfering over another folder i put in: $OEM$\$Docs\All Users\Start Menu\Programs This folder includes 11 subfolders named: Accessories; adminastrative tools; Audio; Clean & Protect; Games; etc to help tidy up and catagorize each program installed. Its nice to view any easy to navigate for me. Each of these folders has it's icon customised, and linked to the ICON folder mentioned above. ______ B U T..... when the folders copy over 1st the hidden .ini files are NOT hidden anymore. and 2nd the folders in the START MENU (which is just another folder, right?) do not display these customised icons. i know the folders have been customised properly because if i dont have that "icons" folder on my working XP system's root drive the icons do not appear. and when i copy over the folders manually from elsewhere on my harddrive they work too. just not when i copy (manually or as i want to via the $OEM$ folder) them from the CD. _____ I suppose im asking is there anyway i can customise the start folders on an NLITE installation? i thought just copying these folders over from the CD would work (I also copy them to the PROGRAM FILES folder). any idrea of help would be most apreciated cheers rich
