Problems Multibooting Windows 2003/Windows PE
Screwz Luse replied to Halonix's topic in Multi-Boot CD/DVDs
uuummm.. I'm not sure but usually cdshell.ini is in the cdshell folder (usually named /BOOT/, although I have it named CDSH on my DVD and hex edited so that it points to /CDSH/ instead of /BOOT/). I don't have my cdshell.ini file in the root of my dvd. And noticed that you have if $lastKey == key[F1]; then goto Help even though you have no Help section. That won't cause any problems (unless someone hits F1), but just something I thought I'd point out. -
uuummm... It should work with 3.9. The version I used before 4.0 was 3.9.1 and it seemed to work no problem. I'd go through and just double check. If you like, when I get back to the home comp later tonight, I can send you my image file and maybe you can try that out.
-
hhhmm... Just double checked that it was still working for me and it definately is... And you definately have the Knoppix folder copied to the root of your dvd (ie /KNOPPIX/ is in the root and in there is the KNOPPIX filesystem along with all the other various files)? Attached is what my syslinux.cfg file looks like (not sure if yours looks different or anything, but just in case). [EDIT] Just tested with the Knoppix 4.0 CD and it definitely still works. [/EDIT] syslinux.cfg.txt

The basic method I used was described in this topic. Basically, you have to do the following: 1.) Copy the /boot/isolinux folder from the Knoppix CD to some place on your hard drive so you can edit the files. 2.) Rename isolinux.cfg to syslinux.cfg 3.) Download the file attached to the topic above (you can try clicking this to get the file) 4.) Delete the files boot.cat and isolinux.bin 5.) Place all the files in the /boot/isolinux folder that you just copied to your hard drive into that image (I used MagicISO). Make sure not to copy the folders into the image, just the files. 6.) The topic I used says there should be 12 files in the image file, I personally only have 10 files from the v3.9.1 CD (f2, f3, linux, memtest, logo.16, syslinux.cfg,minirt.gz, german.kbd, boot.msg, ldlinux.sys) I then used the following CDshell command to boot the image: if $lastKey == key[6]; then bcdw boot \IMAGES\4320.img (of course, edit to your needs). The renaming of the CDshell folder to CDSH isn't really required, I just did because at one point, I had Longhorn on my DVD (since removed as I don't need it anymore). Currently, the Knoppix distro seems to work. I've also managed to get Whax on my DVD and both seem to work great.

When I get back to my main computer tomorrow, I'll post up how I did it (although I know that I changed it so CDShell is in it's own folder named CDSH and such by hex editing one of the CDSH files so instead of pointing to BOOT it was looking for CDSH). Hopefully someone can help ya out before then. heh...

Unattended WindowsXP 64bit edition
Screwz Luse replied to Anon5710's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
If you still have problems, I've tested nLite multiple times using different combinations of nLitedness (heh), and the only nLite option that didn't give me the error you are describing is driver integration. When using tweaks and/or removing components and/or using patches, I recieved the error. Try starting over (keeping your winnt.sif file and $OEM$ directory) and only integrating hotfixes with nLite or just not using nLite at all... I know that's the reason I haven't formatted my PC, because I would like to do some component removal but can't as nLite makes my dvd cry. -

I've had this problem when using nLite on my x64 version. Are you using nLite? And you can try the VMWare 5.5 Beta for x64 support. BTW: If you are using nLite, I only get this problem when doing anything except integrating hotfixes. I can't integrate drivers, add tweaks, or remove components. -
uuuummm... I would think it's possible if you partition the hard drive before hand but I'm curious why you'd want to do this? Seems like a lot of wasted effort. heh....

1.) This is what my Windows XP line would look like: stm_aix("p1i1","p1i0",[0,"Microsoft® Windows® XP","","",-1,-1,0,"run:SETUP/WinXP/Professional/SETUP.EXE"],365,0); Just point to it from the root (ie, SETUP is in the root of the DVD) 2.) uuummmm... I'm not very good at explaining it but basically, you just delete everything you don't want in index.html... Don't want those other Windows version, select the entire category (everything that you want would have p#i# where number is the category, just delete everything with those numbers)... Hopefully that helps but I'm not very good with explanations. Hopefully someone will come by and post something better for ya.

I'd say probably not. You'd have to remove a lot of components and drivers and I'm still not positive it'd be able to fit on one CD with all the hotfixes. I'd shoot for a dvd as the drives are pretty cheap. I'm just not sure that they'd fit on one CD. I've never tried it though.
-
I thought it worked on 64-bit. meh... Anyway, it currently doesn't really help, in my opinion, as you can't hex edit the files now to put onto the DVD... Really need to get that figured out sometime. heh.

Can nLite intergrate these hotfixes?
Screwz Luse replied to zoobooboozoo's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I'd post this in the nLite forum but I don't believe nLite can. I'm not positive though. -
Awesome stuff. I'll deffinately be messing with it as soon as I get my desktop up and running again (in the process of moving to an apartment).
-
I was looking at your menu again and it looks really nice. I deffinately like the idea of being able to change the menu via the HTML document and such. Just out of curiousity, will you include all the icons and such with the program? heh... I think I'm just lazy to get them myself. lol...

Can any virtual cd-rom work under xp64?
Screwz Luse replied to arost's topic in Windows XP 64 Bit Edition
A little late on the reply but I suggest FileDisk. It's a really small program that supports command lines as well as a simple tray mounting icon. It's currently my 64-bit mount of choice. I use it and it works great. -
I would love to see this menu and maybe grab a customizable version. It deffinately looks professional and would make things on my AIO look really nice and complete.
-
I use the command: if $lastKey == key[7]; then bcdw boot \IMAGES\4320.img and in 4320.img is the following files: All using the method described in FBi's mether here

Create your own driver Guide
Screwz Luse replied to member11's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Sweet, but the condescending isn't needed. A nice little link like "hey, try here" and maybe a "hey, there also is a forum here for this and it might be more helpful for you" is probably all that's required. But it's sweet of you to post. -
Ah, that's disappointing. Hopefully someone will roll that feature out sometime. It's hard to test out the cd without it. I don't have a spare comp running an x64 cpu. heh....

Alright, well, I've just upgraded my computer's hardware and am now running Windows 64-bit. I'm trying to create an unattended CD but when booting from VMWare, it says that the OS cannot install on a 32-bit environment. I thought VMWare 5 supported 64-bit emulation. I'm curious, does VirtualPC or anything else support 64-bit for testing or am I missing something in VMWare?

Problem: Line 14 in winnt.sif is invalid
Screwz Luse replied to Hortoulis's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Is it too long or is it because: 1.) There's no ending quote 2.) The last semi-colon isn't needed ? I'm just curious if those might be the problems. heh... Those are a lot of drivers. Might as well integrate 'em. -
Problems with CDImage gui beta 3
Screwz Luse replied to demetri's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Just out of curiousity, what kind of message are you getting in the message window? -
I would send him and email but deffinately don't send the money until you're sure you'll get the software. heh... An email couldn't hurt anyway.

I use the following: cmdlines.txt ".\Registry.cmd" So in the same directory as cmdlines.txt, there's Registry.cmd: @ECHO OFF Regedit.exe /s C:\install\RegistryTweaks.regWhich uses my RegistryTweaks.reg file in my c:\install This might be redundant, as I might be able to call the registry file from cmdlines.txt but it works for me. heh...

Hey, Army, that plugin looks cool. Does it really do anything like play music or anything? I've never seen it before.
