  1. Hi Sorry, I guess I should have put a good deal more in the post:rolleyes: my error! <sigh> already tried the apm enable and all that does is cause the computer to shut down and then automatically re-boot. Very frustrating! I can find no where in the BIOS to do the ACPI thing either. Thanks for replying. Linda Stoodley
  2. Hello all and I know this problem has been covered before on the list, but am going to try and get it solved one more time. Computer I am working on is Pentium III 450 mhz with 256 meg of RAM, 40 gig hdd, and promise card for hdd. Just did clean install of Windows XP Home, upgrade edition. fdisked MBR, then fdisked. Installed XP. Installation went great, but when I go to shut down system, goes thru shutdown routine and then sits at Window that says "It is now safe to shut down computer". :cry Have to physically turn off button to shut off computer. Where do you suggest I go within Windows itself, or BIOS to fix this problem? Computer always shut down by itself before with Windows ME, and Windows 98. Any help is much appreciated! Linda Stoodley:wail:
