    I had the same problem with an HP Pavilion DV8000 series. I worked around it by letting the install format the drive then quitting the install when asked for the floppy for the second time. Having restarted the install I merely didn't do the format this time negating the need for the floppy to be re-inserted. I know its not a solution but as a workaround it allowed me to clean build the machine.
