  1. I just thought I'd give this topic a nudge as I am experiencing the same problem described in the first post. Brand new Acer Aspire 5710 with Intel/Pro 3945abg wireless, reinstalled it with an nLited XP SP2 and latest drivers off the Intel site, removed lots of things but was very careful not to mess up networking/wifi things (I've been using almost the exact same nLite setup on my desktop for the past year with no probelms). The inbuilt XP Wifi software doesn't find any wifi connections, but when I installed the Intel wifi software that came with the drives, it finds loads of connections and I can connect to our LAN fine. Very strange?!
  2. thats great, thx. I'll just set the WINNT file to remove all connections to OE and that'll be fine
  3. I don't know if this has been asked before (I did a search and couldn't find anything), but why are Outlook Express and Windows Address Book linked to be removed together? I know OE needs WAB to work, but I didn't think it was the other way around. I remember when I used XPlite before I could remove OE and keep WAB and WAB worked fine. I could really do with WAB on my system for use with my mobile phone sync software, but OE is a waste of space, so I don't want this installed. Thanks.
  4. just bumping this so people may use it with the newly released Nero Burning Rom 6.6.1.15 that came out today: http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/nero-up.php hope nero haven't changed anything that may sabotage this. thanks again.
  5. Hi vcBlackBox if you are still reading this thread, can you confirm if NCAB works with v6.6.1.6 of Nero? thx
  6. gutted, oh well, it was worth asking anyways. I'm still interested to see 1-4 implemented though thanks
  7. Hi there, I've been battling with this all day, I've read on several places in this forum about exporting the following registry entry to save the way folders are viewed in Windows Explorer: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams] "Settings"= I have also exported this setting as well: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\1\Desktop] "ItemPos1280x1024(1)"= then I've messed up my folder views, applied to all folders, restarted, applied the previously saved reg entries, then restarted, but on restart things aren't back to how I want them (how things were when I exported those reg entries). I've tried RegShot and it it only says I am adjusting those same 2 settings, but in the HKEY_USERS string, not the HKCU?! What on earth am I doing wrong? thanks.
  8. oh yeah, unfortunately its grouping together Shell Hardware Detection and Themes with Fast User Switching, and I like to retain Themes Service as I use a custom theme that makes things look pretty. Any way these can be seperated or are they intrinsically linked? Fair play, I shall have a look into the reigistry and see if I can figure it out, just thought I'd send these ideas out into the wild in case nuhi (or anyone else) fancies looking into them too.
  9. I've been playing with nLite all week (terrific program, infinitely better than XPLite, which I have used up to now), but I've got a few suggestions just to clean things up a bit, correct me if I've missed something and these are already do-able. 1) In Control Panel>Network Connections - The icon for "Network Setup Wizard" is still there even though I removed this with nLite. It gives the error: "Error loading hnetwiz.dll The specified module could not be found" when I double click it. You shoud probably tie this to be removed when you choose the Network Setup Wizard to be removed when creating your nLite'd CD. 2) Similar to the point mentioned above, In My Network Places - The icon for "Wireless Network Setup Wizard" is still there even though I removed all the "Wireless Zero Configuration" Service with nLite. You shoud probably tie this to be removed when you choose Wireless Zero Configuration to be removed when creating your nLite'd CD. 3) When looking at the properties for your different Network Connections (eg Ethernet, Wireless connection etc), even though I have removed "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)", the advanced Tab is still there on the properties window, even though its only function is to change settings for Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing. As far as I can see, the removal of this tab could be tied to the removal of "Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)" in nLite. 4) Could you include the ability to remove the volume control panel in nLite, I figure this is very easy but just has been overlooked so far. I have an M-Audio Soundcard, so use the Volume Control Software that comes with this application, so have no use for the XP Volume Control Software. Hey, even XPlite can remove this 5) Did I miss the ability to remove the service "Fast User Switching Compatibility", or isn't this able to be removed (yet?) I think that's it for now. Most are pretty superficial, but I'm just trying to think of things to move this excellent program further towards the state of perfection! ta.
