  1. Just an update to everything posted so far. I have repalced PSU and sorted the 3.3 voltage problems CPU has had fresh thermal paste applied to to connection heatsink and fan and heatsink has also been cleaned. Now my CPU has an idle temp of 41 - 44 c I used Super PI to test CPU and it peaked at a temp of 60 C max, and there has been no freezes whatsovere since then. Hopefully this is the problem resolved and I go back on my previous words of "heat not being a problem", as it looks like this was the most likely culprit. Cheers to every for the help and comments. Special thanks for Trixxy for the PSU repalcement. !!!
  2. Have stripped PC Down and yes the heatsink was clogged with dust. Cleaned the fan and the sink and now temp is down to 51. Also have taken the drives of RAID and disabled it in the BIOS. Clean installation of XP for over 12 hours and no freeze (fingerts crossed). Lets see what happens. CPU is not overclocked btw. Was oc'd to 3.4 at one time but not for long and that was about 18 months ago.
  3. Temps seem fine - this is a lsit from the Everest program : Sensor Properties: Sensor Type Winbond W83627HF (ISA 290h) Motherboard Name Abit BD7II / BG7 / IT7 Series Chassis Intrusion Detected No Temperatures: Motherboard 47 °C (117 °F) CPU 64 °C (147 °F) Maxtor 6E040L0 35 °C (95 °F) Cooling Fans: CPU 2482 RPM Chassis 2812 RPM Voltage Values: CPU Core 1.54 V +3.3 V 2.66 V +5 V 5.05 V +12 V 11.67 V +5 V Standby 4.70 V VBAT Battery 2.72 V DIMM 2.32 V DIMM VTT 1.15 V AGP VDDQ 1.57 V PC was custom built and has fan on CPU plus 4 other internal fans. Heat was a thought, but does not seem to be the issue. Mem has been tested in other machines plus I have used Hiren Boot CD 8.1 to test the mem and have no probs Suggestions? Cheers
  4. My problem is one that Windows (2000 Pro & XP Pro) freezes randomly, this problems occurs only on one machine : ABIT IT 7 MAX 2 v 2.0 P4 3.06 Ghz 1 Gig PC 21000 Ram 1 x 40 Gig Maxtor 2 x 160 Gig Maxtors (on HTP 374 Raid as seperate disks) The most comon times for freezing is when using these programs Newsleecher (for newsgroups) QuickPar (for reapiring items d/loaded from newsgroups) IE I have only had this problem for the past 3-4 months and occur whether or not I have XP Pro installed or 2000 Pro. The programs work perfectly on my other machines (Packard Bell AMD Athalon XP 2000 with 1 gig Ram & Compaq 340 Mhz with 512 gig of Ram (Spare Machine)) I have performed many clean installations and tried dif combinations of RAM to no avails, also the system can support up to 2 GB or Ram but if I put 1.5 Gig in the system will only ever show 1 Gig. All the drivers I have are the most up to date and the BIOS is also up to date. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Thanks
