And 'DupeFiles' & 'CabMerge' under options were only changed for this latest install, so they aren't the culprit. I should probably cut down on the number of addons But they're so useful...
  2. I modify quite a few things, such as the TCP connection limit (on that note, is there any point going beyond 100? I use bittorrent programs and I have a rather slow connection, so I want it to be optimal) and a plethora of registry edits (a few of my own, and lots within nLite) I'm building a new image to try test in VMWare, but I've NEVER seen that error within a VM. Could be that I never test it thoroughly enough, but hey... If anyone could tell me an easy and preferably fast way to get the genres for a couple hundred bands at once I'd be grateful, although it probably won't get rid of the error.
  3. Thank you for your reply and kind welcome, MGadAllah I have done countless tests of my CD over the months I've assembled all the additions and registry modifications etc. But there's always the possibility I missed something. And who keeps a 60gb mp3 folder on their VM to test closing folders with? ;o Since so many people use the RVM pack, I would also assume it's not that which is causing the problem. Judging by the specific program giving the message (namely, the Explorer shell) would I be justified in thinking it's a shell extension addon that could be causing the problem? I don't use a lot of those, though... I'll try your suggestion about using the pack on its own, but I've experienced several disturbing differences between an installation on a VM and on my actual computer (not just the drivers either ) EDIT: I always use the latest version of everything. I'm meticulous and borderline obsessive about this
  4. I have been using nLite for quite some time, but recently (after a reinstallation, I suppose) I have started to notice some error messages and appparent 'problems' while using XP. The most repoducible example I can think of is when I close the folder I store my mp3s in. I get this error message approximately 50% of the time: (or, after I've browsed through it a bit. I'm afraid I'm not too sure) Window title-> 'Proxy Desktop: Explorer.EXE - Application Error' Error message -> 'The exception unknown software exception (0x0eedfade) occurred in the application at location 0x7c812a5b' I don't suppose it's the fact that it's a rather big folder with many subdirectories that's causing this problem, but I have a suspicion it's one of the RyanVM addons (or the actual update pack itself) that may be causing these strange errors. However, I do not have the time to check each addon individually, so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar symptoms? I found a post from someone who got the same error code, roughly, but they didn't seem to have found the solution. While writing this, I experimented a bit and discovered it happens with my games folder as well, also rather large but with far fewer subdirectories. This isn't a crippling problem for me, but it looks ugly. Clean computers are happy computers As an additional note, when shutting down the computer it seems to also hang explorer.exe, which has to be manually 'End now'-ed. I use nLite to integrate these addons because I have had insurmountable hassles mixing nLite with the actual integrator, so I apologise if this post shouldn't be here at all.
