My apologies, Bashrat... Why did you change the driverpacks to use the "detachedprogram section"? Was there a problem with [GUIRunOnce]? I built a CD tonight and was presented with an error during last boot - Taskkill.exe could not find "framedyn.dll" and failed twice or three times. When the computer booted all the way into Windows, "Rundll32.exe" failed for the same reason, and "srclient.dll" wasn't found. The computer booted up without Internet Explorer (??!!). Also, I attempted to run my "applications.cmd" from the "BTS_DPs_finish.cmd" file: :Cleanup IF EXIST %INSTDIR%\applications.cmd START /WAIT %INSTDIR%\applications.cmd IF EXIST %INSTDIR%\applications.cmd CMD /C RD /S /Q %SystemDrive%\Install "applications.cmd" ran, but I got 7zip errors when it tried to run the Adobe Acrobat 7 installer (?!!) and one or two others.. (all this sounded like a good idea to me at the time ) I know I sound real stupid to you guys, but I used to be able to create unattended installs using RyanVM, NLite, and BTS..
-
This makes the system wait until the command file is done before executing the next thing. When I tried to put a reference to my own .cmd file in winnt.sif [GUIRunOnce], it was real ugly (v5.051 - option "G"). My cmd file seemed to run over something else that was executing. I always use "start /wait"...
-
Confusion reigns... I really have a need to create a new M2 CD tonight. The last time I tried it (v5.051), it did not create a [GUIRunOnce] section in winnt.sif, even though I selected "G" at the last.... I'm not even sure if the newest version creates a [GUIRunOnce] in winnt.sif anymore. The thing is, I have my own cmd file which I need to run just before the cleanup, and I used to be able to accomplish this by adding a couple of lines to that section in winnt.sif. So. If I want to create a new CD tonight, and (1) run a cmd file (installs some apps silently) just before cleanup, and (2) add a line to clean up my application installers directory (in $OEM$\$1\install): How do I now do this?? I think (Step by Step) - this is what I used to do - haven't been truly successful for several versions now: 1. Start with clean XP (SP2) image 2. RyanVM it 3. NLite it 4. Bashrat it: (can someone fill in the sub steps here, including manual changes both for fixing bugs and my cmd file and special cleanup?) I've looked at Bash's instructions, tried the latest, and have been unsuccesful (Is it because I tried to add my lines into a [GUIRunOnce] in winnt.sif - the same lines I've used OK before ?) Thanks Rob
-
Sorry, Bash... It's just that the last time (last night) I ran using M2, there was no [guirunonce] section in the resulting winnt.sif. I downloaded the latest of everything just before I ran this...
-
I can't keep up with these changes. Not only are the driverpacks themselves in a constant state of change, but now the methods of running the cmd files also... I used to add a couple of lines in winnt.sif to run a command file of my own. How do I do this now?
-
I plead gross ignorance.... Which "Rem bus extenders" line in what file? I looked in "Slipstream_DPM.cmd" and there is more than one line which begins with this string and references aliide in some way....
-
OK I'm REALLY confused. There hasn't been a new release (after v5049), but myself and others were getting the "aliide error" with this version when it first came out (I was using method 2, no WLAN drivers this time, so no long pathname prob). This is the first time I've ever had this problem; it is a problem which would occur with VMWare or VirtualPC. There was even a "fix" a few pages back which had you manually edit txtsetup.sif. When I was editing the file I "discovered" some blank [sourcedisksfiles] sections, you may remember. So now people are reporting success stories.... Bashrat, did you fix this problem without generating a new rev? In general, Whazzup? Where does this project stand, errors-wise? Whatever the case, Bashrat, thanks for the massive effort, anyway....
-
Bashrat: I compared several versions of Txtsetup.sif. Original/Vanilla versions have several [sourcedisksfiles] sections. In nLited versions, a couple of these sections are empty.... Sorry for the confusion, I've had successful results a few BTS revs back with these nlited images, so I guess this is a false alarm...
-
Found an extra [sourcedisksfiles] section in txtsetup.sif with nothing in it (v5049)... ...... wmerrenu.dll =1,,,,,,,2,0,0 eplrcz00.dll = 1,,,,,,,,3,3 [SourceDisksFiles] [Strings] MyPicturesScreenSaver = "My Pictures Screen Saver.scr" ViewChannelsSCF = "View Channels.scf" ....... Edit: This is one of several. There are 4 [sourcedisksfiles] sections in txtsetup.sif, and 2 are empty....

Bashrat: v5047 During Setup: Windows can't find WatchDriverSigningPolicy.exe Windows can't find setdevicepath.exe... .exe files are in ...\OEM\bin in BTS_DriverPacks_Base_V5047\UWXPCD_ROOT\M2\OEM\bin .exe files are missing from ...\OEM\bin in image after RUN_ME.cmd is executed... Method 2 Same nlited XPCD image as I used with v5045. This is new problem since then.... Edit (trying to reduce clutter): I "solved" this problem by manually copying the missing files to the image dir (see above). Then the install went through without stopping. However, I have reason to believe this is not all that is wrong... The nVidia control panel did not install (did with v5045). I don't think the chipset drivers installed... I can no longer get the slipstream to work with method 2 using 5.045. There is a very confusing thread which seems to say that someone has fixed this, but does not say exactly how... Bashrat, could you release a REAL fix for this??? Rob

Bashrat: I checked, there is no $OEM$\$$\inf folder, even in the "successful trial" version (see my first post in this topic). I am using VIA KT600 chipset, so this is probably why it didn't bite me on the trial. I don't know what produces the inf folder, but it must not be nLite.... Should there be .inf files in there for other drivers than Intel chipset? (oops! Editing because I thought of something else) Besides, why would it ever want anything from "C:\DOCUME~1\Robert\LOCALS~1\Temp\..." ? Rob

Very Cool Bashrat!! Using V5044, I just made a successful install using an iFlex PSA150 SATA (PCI) controller card (si3112). My system board is a Gigabyte GA7-VT600 (VIA KT600 chipset). The sound control panel came up, as well. The "AVRack" application for the sound was not installed - I am not sure if your intention was to include this... What this means for anyone is that you can "soup up" any computer (down to PIII) with a SATA drive (BIG improvement!!) using a controller board which cost me ~$17 US (NewEgg) and an 80 GB drive (~$60, same source)... Thanks Again Bashrat!! Rob

Bts Driverpacks - General Discussion

I've got a blue screen using BTS 5.032/ MassStorage 503.7.... This is a VIA Sata (not RAID). Bts Driverpacks - General Discussion
robnjay replied to Bâshrat the Sneaky's topic in The General Stuff
Thanks! Your driverpacks already include the sound and IDE/Raid drivers for NForce and VIA (I used the "Manual Fix 2" you made). So, exactly what drivers for NForce would I need? Question for Bashrat: I'm using the driverpacks and NLite for the first time. Previously, I had an Unattended install for XP SP2 with RyanVM's update 1.02 in it. Also, I had nVidia NForce drivers (Chipset, sound, disk) and VIA drivers (chipset, sound, disk) via the "OemPnPDriversPath" in winnt.sif. I notice this Bahsrat/nLite version doesn't seem to use this. What is the easiest way to include the chipset drivers for NForce and VIA in this image? Thanks Rob -
RyanVM Windows XP SP2 Update Pack
robnjay replied to RyanVM's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
Thanks. I did the same exact thing for the XP Home OEM that I did for Pro Corporate and Pro OEM. I edited the txtsetup.sif. I even checked to make sure the edits were on exactly the same line (right after [Files]) in the DOSNET.INF file and in the same area in txtsetup.sif... I did read this entire thread, and I wonder if some of these other Framedyn complainers aren't revealing that they are using XP Home. BTW, I had whined about Taskkill earlier. It turns out I had added it to my earlier Home install. Dump it into i386, and another txtsetup.sif edit... Are there issues when you slipstream SP2 into a previously (SP1) slipstreamed image? I've read there aren't, but I've also seen hints ther might be... -
RyanVM Windows XP SP2 Update Pack
robnjay replied to RyanVM's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
At the risk of p***ing somebody else off, here goes: I've maintained 3 versions of WinXP (SP1) Unattended installs for several months: (1) XP Pro Corporate, (2) XP Pro OEM, and (3) XP Home OEM. I recently decided to get with the program and make installs for XP SP2, especially now that there are "pre SP3 Hotfixes" . I decided to use RyanVM's excellent SP2 Update Pack. So I did. Everything works OK for Pro Corp and Pro OEM. However, XP Home OEM gives me the dreaded "Framedyne.dll" and "srclient.dll" errors. One thing that is different about the Home ver. is that I started with a SP1 OEM CD (then slipstreamed SP2 on it, no errors). Is there some feature which is missing in the Home ver, that is needed for one of the elements of RyanVM's update pack? BTW, no, I did not use nLite..... Framedyn.dll. Slowly he turned, step by step.... But 2 out of 3 ain't bad, is it?? -
