  1. Yup Planning on getting Office 2007 this summer. WOW! Hello Nuhi. Does this help you then? Glad if I have been able to help you.
  2. I've now fixed the problem. I just ran nLite again and didn't move the TEMP folder this time. All working lovely now.
  3. Right, I'm running an nLite customised version of Windows XP. It appears that whenever I reset my PC, Office 2000 "forgets" it is installed. When I run say Access or Excel using the shortcuts I get an error message saying, "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed." Funny that, it is installed. Now I never got this with my default XP install so I assume its something I've either removed from this nLited XP or a setting I've made somewhere. I know I moved the default TEMP location to C:\TEMP, which I reckon could be the problem. So does anyone know what is happening to Office when I reset and how I can fix this? If I have to re-nLite I don't mind doing that. *Edit* This also affects Windows Live Messenger it now seems. LAST_SESSION.INI
  4. Thanks. So what do I do? Run the administrative install of Office and then copy the files into that folder? As for DVDs, I only have DVDR/RWs to use. I made an nLite version of Windows earlier. It was 574.2Mb before. Once I'd finished and removed all the rubbish I didn't want, added RyanVM's pack and my archive of downloaded Windows Updates it had shrunk to 293.26Mb!! A reduction of 315.77Mb. I didn't add things like Winamp, VLC, Firefox and Thunderbird though. I just wanted to see what kind of reduction I could get on a basic install of Windows. I was always going to write the nLite stuff to a DVD anyway.
  5. Right I get the .bat stuff. But if I've just installed Windows how can I have the Office files copied over to the hard drive? I don't get that bit. If I have to put the Office files into an nLite install why can't I just have Office install as part of the Windows install?
  6. Ah, thanks. So you put that in runonce? Runonce then runs that bat file and you install Office off the CD on the first logon? That sounds good but I'd really like to be able to pack Office along with other apps into my nLited install. I know how to do the apps such as Winamp, VLC, ATI Tray Tools etc. I can either download them or make them myself. It just Office that I can't figure out how to pack into nLite.
  7. Er I use it because the two guides I've tried to use tell me to. I'm new to this so I don't know any other ways of doing that stuff.
  8. Thanks I tried that out but the same thing happens when I try the code: msiexec /p C:\SP2\MAINSP2ff.msp /a C:\Office2003\PRO11.msi SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE /qb msiexec /p C:\SP2\OWC11SP2ff.msp /a C:\Office2003\OWC11.MSI SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE /qb I adapted the code for Office 2000 but that stage is basically the same as the original instructions for Office 2000 on the MSFN forums. The SR1a install won't play ball. Anyone know what package I'd have to make Office 2000 into for installing at runonce?
  9. I've recently decided that I wanted to learn how to make my own addons for nLite. I could easily download them but not all of the most up-to-date version of the programs I use are available. I want to get Office 2000 to install through nLite if possible. I was using this thread, http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=67562, to make a cab file for Office 2000. As you can see I had a problem with SR1a. Someone posted that I should make Office 2000 install at runonce. That suits me fine, I think I can code runonce to that. My only question is how do I make the file for Office 2000? I take it I don't make a cab file? I've searched the forums already and haven't found anything that looks as though it will tell me how to do this. Apologies if there is something somewhere. Could someone either tell me how prepare whatever file type I need Office 2000 to be in e.g. cab, exe, rar etc for me to install it at runonce. I would prefer to make a cab file as the link earlier describes but I've had a problem with that. Does anyone know how to fix it?
  10. How would I make it install at the runonce? Wouldn't I have to pack it into a .cab file anyway?Sorry for the questions but I'm a bit of a noob at this. Also what is the runonce and how do I make programs install at the runonce?
  11. I just realised I had my Office folder as "Office 2000". Removing the space makes the SP3 install start properly. However when I tried the SRa1 I got an error message with the text: "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch." What does that mean? I already have Office 2000 installed on my PC. Is this confusing the SR1a upgrade process?
  12. Hi Joeyeti, Just started playing with this guide earlier and it is going OK, up to a point. I've gotten to the point where I run the commands from Start|Run: "Next you need to run two commands from Start | Run or Command Prompt. These two commands will bring up a similar dialog as when you made the administrative point. (Note: SR-1a must be run first.) For SR-1a: CODE msiexec /a <Drive>:\Office2000\Admin\Data1.msi /p <Drive>:\Office2000\SR1a\data1.msp SHORTFILENAMES=1 For SP3 Disk1: CODE msiexec /a <Drive>:\Office2000\Admin\Data1.msi /p <Drive>:\Office2000\SP3\MAINSP3ff.msp SHORTFILENAMES=1 In case you have also the Data2.msi, run also this one: For SP3 Disk2: CODE msiexec /a <Drive>:\Office2000\Admin\Data2.msi /p <Drive>:\Office2000\SP3\SP3CD2ff.msp SHORTFILENAMES=1" I get the dialog box you mention for both SR1a and SP3 but nothing happens after I click the OK button. The dialog box exits and nothing seems to have happened to either of the .msp target files. What should be happening here? You also say after the instructions I posted "Wait while Setup is preparing...", no setup is preparing here. Am I meant to run some setup or should it have been started automatically after doing the "msiexec /a <Drive>:\Office 2000\Admin\Data1.msi /p" etc etc? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this.
  13. I recently discovered the possibility of adding the programs I use to an nlite install. This is so out of this world it is amazing. I want to be able to make my own installers for programs such as Winamp, WinRar, 7Zip, Office 2000, OpenOffice, Firefox and Thunderbird to name but a few, the only problem is I have no idea how to do this It is just utterly bewildering so a guide that tells you what to do would be brilliant.
