  1. I have recently used RyanMV Integrator very successfully and would like to compare nLite. I now have an XPSP2 OEM CD to install from which enables you to run all updates from MS. What I did today was a normal install of the above CD, installed my ADSL router and then went to the MS Update site. On the first run through, it told me I needed three updates: KB893803 [Windows Installer 3.1] KB898461 [Package Installer] and KB892130 [WGA Validation Tool]. I installed these updates, rebooted and went back to MS Update. This time it told me I needed over 50 updates as follows: Windows-KB890830-V1.19.exe 3.32 MB Application Windows-KB913433-x86-ENU.exe 542 KB Application WindowsMedia-KB911564-x86-ENU.exe 597 KB Application WindowsMedia9-KB917734-x86-ENU.exe 2.18 MB Application WindowsXP-KB873339-x86-ENU.exe 597 KB Application WindowsXP-KB885835-x86-ENU.exe 2.96 MB Application WindowsXP-KB885836-x86-ENU.exe 516 KB Application WindowsXP-KB886185-x86-enu.exe 384 KB Application WindowsXP-KB887472-x86-enu.exe 1.03 MB Application WindowsXP-KB888302-x86-ENU.exe 386 KB Application WindowsXP-KB890046-x86-ENU.exe 510 KB Application WindowsXP-KB890859-x86-ENU.exe 5.81 MB Application WindowsXP-KB891781-x86-ENU.exe 396 KB Application WindowsXP-KB893756-x86-ENU.exe 675 KB Application WindowsXP-KB894391-x86-ENU.exe 1.98 MB Application WindowsXP-KB896358-x86-ENU.exe 0.99 MB Application WindowsXP-KB896423-x86-ENU.exe 550 KB Application WindowsXP-KB896424-x86-ENU.exe 2.47 MB Application WindowsXP-KB896428-x86-ENU.exe 512 KB Application WindowsXP-KB899587-x86-ENU.exe 720 KB Application WindowsXP-KB899589-x86-ENU.exe 526 KB Application WindowsXP-KB899591-x86-ENU.exe 570 KB Application WindowsXP-KB900485-v2-x86-ENU.exe 571 KB Application WindowsXP-KB900725-x86-ENU.exe 4.92 MB Application WindowsXP-KB901017-x86-ENU.exe 0.99 MB Application WindowsXP-KB901214-x86-ENU.exe 611 KB Application WindowsXP-KB902400-x86-ENU.exe 4.70 MB Application WindowsXP-KB904706-v2-x86-ENU.exe 1.32 MB Application WindowsXP-KB905414-x86-ENU.exe 606 KB Application WindowsXP-KB905749-x86-ENU.exe 568 KB Application WindowsXP-KB908519-x86-ENU.exe 583 KB Application WindowsXP-KB908531-v2-x86-ENU.exe 4.44 MB Application WindowsXP-KB910437-x86-ENU.exe 1.13 MB Application WindowsXP-KB911280-v2-x86-ENU.exe 1.04 MB Application WindowsXP-KB911562-x86-ENU.exe 560 KB Application WindowsXP-KB911567-x86-ENU.exe 1.50 MB Application WindowsXP-KB911927-x86-ENU.exe 603 KB Application WindowsXP-KB912919-x86-ENU.exe 710 KB Application WindowsXP-KB913580-x86-ENU.exe 1.24 MB Application WindowsXP-KB914388-x86-ENU.exe 994 KB Application WindowsXP-KB914389-x86-ENU.exe 972 KB Application WindowsXP-KB916595-x86-ENU.exe 596 KB Application WindowsXP-KB917159-x86-ENU.exe 708 KB Application WindowsXP-KB917344-x86-ENU.exe 746 KB Application WindowsXP-KB917422-x86-ENU.exe 920 KB Application WindowsXP-KB917953-x86-ENU.exe 770 KB Application WindowsXP-KB918439-x86-ENU.exe 553 KB Application WindowsXP-KB918899-x86-ENU.exe 4.40 MB Application WindowsXP-KB920214-x86-ENU.exe 771 KB Application WindowsXP-KB920670-x86-ENU.exe 511 KB Application WindowsXP-KB920683-x86-ENU.exe 593 KB Application WindowsXP-KB921398-x86-ENU.exe 4.27 MB Application WindowsXP-KB921883-x86-ENU.exe 685 KB Application WindowsXP-KB922616-x86-ENU.exe 804 KB Application My questions to you are: 1. Can I include all of the update files in nLite? Or, should the first three be included and not the others? 2. I have some drivers which were prepared using the DriverPack application. Can I use these with nLite? Hope one of you experts is able to help. Thanks.
  2. As a follow-up, I think there may be a bug in the application as follows: I just set the app to download all the critical updates and as you can see in the attached picture, the file being downloaded is KB 920670, but the app reports the file KB890830.
  3. Just tried it and it worked perfectly on my XP SP2 Dell OEM box. Thanks very much for a simple-to-use tool. Looking forward to further development and added functions.
  4. I have downloaded the program and installed on C:. When I ask the program to update the database I get this error: --------------------------- Update --------------------------- Cannot create file "C:\Program Files\RunOnceEx.cmd Creator\". The system cannot find the path specified. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- Help, please !!
  5. Thanks urie. I have already read these pages, but after reading them again the situation seems a little clearer. Think I'll try the suggestions from both posts.
  6. Thanks to all of you for your help. Feeling depressed right now because, having gone very carefully through the intermediate section and made a DVD with XP and Office2003 plus a few other things, nothing but XP installed ! ! I must have read something wrong or done something wrong but it can wait till tomorrow. Never give up, that's the answer. Try, try, try again. And I will. Cheers.
  7. I have searched in vain for up-to-date info on silent installing ATI Catalyst drivers and control panel. What I have read, refers to much older drivers [5.x]. I have downloaded the latest [6.3] drivers from ATI and I would like to know how to silently install them on an unattended XP install CD. I have run the file downloaded from ATI and the extracted files are now on C:\ATI. But I don't know what to do to continue. Can anyone help, please? forgot to mention: I want to install using a batch file [install.cmd]
  8. Since my first post, I have installed [unattended] WinXP from the beginner's section and then attempted to install the SP2 slipstreamed version of Office 2003. And, it worked Following that, I went to the Office update site and found that three updates were needed: office2003-KB907417-FullFile-ENU.exe 298 KB office2003-KB911961-FullFile-ENU.exe 3.27 MB Office2003mui-KB892843-FullFile-ENU.exe 5.35 MB These, I have downloaded. After updating via the web, I went back to the Office update site and it did not report that any other updates were necessary. Therefore, maybe the intermediate section of the tutorial could be updated to use SP2, not SP1, and could mention the other three required updates as above. Again, if anyone wants these files, mail me and I'll uplaod them somewhere. Regards.
  9. This thread has been updated here: http://www.msfn.org/board/Office-Patchers-...oad-t89038.html I have been going through the intermediate section of the unattended setup of WinXP and come to the section on Office 2003. There, it tells you how to slipstream Office 2003 SP1, and it works as I have tried it [though not tried to install Office after slipstreaming]. So, I began to think about slipstreaming Office 2003 SP2. I have the necessary file: Office2003SP2-KB887616-FullFile-ENU.exe So, I followed the instructions as for SP1 and changed as necessary for SP2: msiexec /p C:\SP2\MAINSP2ff.msp /a C:\Office2003\PRO11.msi SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE /qb msiexec /p C:\SP2\OWC11SP2ff.msp /a C:\Office2003\OWC11.MSI SHORTFILENAMES=TRUE /qb Everything went well, unexpectedly? I have yet to try to install from the resulting files, but I would bet my left testicle that it will work. Does anyone know any differently? BTW, if anyone wants the SP2 file, mail me and I'll upload to somewhere for you. Thanks to all on the forums. I have learnt so much since finding this site. Regards from Thailand [i'm English actually]
  10. Hi, In the following topic [http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=31886] regarding getting hotfixes, the heading says "MS WINDOWS XP PRO SP2 - (40) WITH Windows Media Player 10 & MSN Messenger 7 installed" If I am slipstreaming hotfixes, or maybe using the /integrate method, and do not have WMP 10 and MSN 7 installed, should I avoid some of the hotfixes? If so, which ones? I see that there is a method to install WMP 10 as a silent install. What about a method to install the latest MSN [7.5x] as a silent install? Thanks in advance.
