  1. I'm having some fun with some very extreme nLite settings and was wondering if anyone knows which of the nlite removable components that include the "Network Connections Service". Or what else could be causing my network connections to not display in a extreme build with no services whatsoever left I tried a build with nothing left in the network section and only mdac and iecore left for OS options and was able to get all services and network connections running with no problems so im pretty sure its some service. I know its not a good idea to remove it all. I just found it to be a fun experiment. If anyone knows it would save me a lot of trail end error. EDIT:Forgot to mention that I'm doing this on SP3
  2. Hello. I'm working on a Windows Ultimate installation mainly for playing games. The first test I'm running is to see if Vista will run into any serious problems without Windows Search & Volume Shadow Copy and the accociated programs. The only things I removed for this test was (using vLite 1.1 beta): -All the languages -Volume Shadow Copy -Windows Search -System Restore -Windows Backup Everything seems fine but I managed to crash/make a blue screen by going into harddisk properties and unchecking the option to index a particular drive. It seemed to first change the attributes on all the files successfuly and the crash when the system presumable tried to issue some instructions to Windows search. It seems to make sense but I thought I'd ask anyway if there could be any cause for concern. Looking for any kind of input A registry hack to remove the indexing option from drive properties would be great if this crash is a natural and unavoidable consequence of killing windows search. 3. I'm in the process of deciding what version of Vista 64 to use. The ultimate version seems to be the one that keeps coming up all over the internet whenever vista is discussed, however I intend to use vlite try getting it as light as possible. So I'm wondering if Home Basic 64 is supported in Vlite, if anyone else around here is using it, and if there is any "Hidden" essentials missing from that version. I use my PC mostly for games, internet and some media, I won't be using over 8gb ram and I certainly won't be using aero. What I'm interested in from Vista is 64-bit technology, DX10 and taking advantage of the 4gb ram I currently have. Seems pointless to buy lots of extra bloat and then kill it away I hope someone can give me some feedback. Lenny
  4. I'm looking for a reg tweak for an XP SP2 unattended install that will default Explorers View to "list" for all folders & users. I've looked through loads of tweaks without finding one, anybody know if its possible to do ? Lenny
  5. Hi! I'm working on making a unattended install cd for XP SP2. I'm wondering if anybody knows if its possible to add the upgraded Windows Update and the Genuine Advantage tool (aka kb892130)as hotfixes ? I haven't had any success in locating a kb892130.exe or even finding out what the upgraded Windows Update is called. Lenny
