Let me make my problem clearer. If I, as the admin, choose to look at the network connections and right click and choose to put the connection icon in the tray, the system returns "Access denied. You don't have admin.. permissions" or something similar. Likewise, whenever I try to make any system changes, XP HE won't allow access. I tried the safe mode as you suggested and the "Administrator" login showed up. I logged in on that account and still could not do anything as mentioned above. I used tweak UI to change the name of the computer, admin, etc. and it appeared to allow that, however, the access rights have not been allowed. I am not referring to folder permissions and the like, but to the main **system permissions**. It seems that at this point, no one has full admin rights, which is a problem that could be catastrophic in the future.

Basically, I created a new user, gave him admin rights and deleted the former user/admin. After this, the problem occured with the new person not having "full" admin priveleges. The former was the "owner". In safe mode, how do I access the area to edit the owner, permissions, etc? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and have checked everywhere for this topic, but no luck. Here's the problem: Windows XP Home w/SP2: needed to change the computer in a peer to peer network to a new user/admin/owner. Since I did this, the new "admin" (confirms on welcome screen) does not have full permissions as a true admin does, such as network options and more. I may not have done this in the correct way, but I've seen this happen before on another computer so it must be fairly common. The problem computer is a Dell 4600c w/3.0 ghz. I have some knowledge of repairing the registry, but would need to be "walked" through it step by step. Can anyone help me out there? Thanks.
