  1. First, you should copy your Office 2003 setup files from your CD to your hard drive.

    Find a file called Setup.ini (which is found in the \FILES\SETUP subfolder). Right click the file, select Properties, and remove the Read-only checkmark. Now open the file to edit it.

    Your setup.ini file should read something like this:

    [Options]

    ; The option section is used for specifying individual Installer Properties.

    ;USERNAME=Customer

    ;COMPANYNAME=my company

    ;INSTALLLOCATION=C:\Program Files\MyApp

    In the USERNAME section enter the registered owner's name, do so also for the COMPANYNAME value. Make sure you uncomment it by removing the ";" from the beginning of the lines.

    Now, add a following line to the [Options] section:

    (25 characters from your CD key, without the "-" seperation)

    It should now read something like this:

    [Options] ; The option section is used for specifying individual Installer Properties. USERNAME=Daniel Petri

    COMPANYNAME=Daniel Petri Ltd.

    ;INSTALLLOCATION=C:\Program Files\MyApp

    PIDKEY=ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXY

    Save the file, burn the whole folder that contains the installation files to a CD.

    That's it! Now you can now install Office 2003 without needing to supply a CD key during the setup process!

    Thanks for the information man, I prefer this method :thumbup

  2. One of MSFN rules stated that:

    10. We do not encourage the raising of post counts or creating threads that state you have reached a post count milestone, unlike other forums that do. Please remember there's no prizes in store for those with a very high number of posts!
    Remember to use the "View new posts" link at the top of every page ;)
    Do you know that not all unread topics are exist under View New Posts and you can check it your self right now to know what I mean...I mean a quick review for View New Posts index and a quick review for new topics under several forums will let you know about it.

    For example...

    This is what View New Posts shows:

    th_27503_unread_122_344lo.jpg

    This is what General Discussion Shows:

    th_27509_General_Discussion_122_320lo.jpg

    And as you can see the two titles with arrows does not exist under view new posts link.

    I've really wished to solve this issue since a while ago, but simply give it up, also when I did post about its reason many told me that it does not happen with them while some confirmed it.

    EnJOY :hello:

  3. Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed that this is a Sticky.

    Don't get me wrong, the concept is excellent. But the post itself is quite disorganized, and somewhat incoherent.

    Some suggestions:

    1) Why not place the list of applications in alphabetical order?

    2) You could also make an alternate list with the files (in order) and the programs affected by them. It would be much easier to sift through that way.

    3) Why not also include Windows components that shouldn't be removed for certain apps, not just particular files.

    I don't know. Just a little more info (maybe a better explanation/intro at the top of the first post) and organization, guys.

    Adding BB Code also helps make it more readable. ;)

    PS: I'd be glad to help out if you like. (This is a 'real' offer, not a 'sarcastic' one. Really. I'll help.)

    humm...this is a good idea,

    but why not you do such a thing and post it and sure any moderator or nuhi himself will make it sticky :hello:

  4. Neighbourhood is spelt right!! Well, for me it is :P
    Good work man

    Its not good that a program as THIS have misspelled words :blushing:

    How about, 'Good work, man! It's not good that a program such as THIS has misspelled words.'

    I mean audit team...that was the joke, to misspelled the word ;)

    Maybe, 'I meant audit team... that was the joke, to misspell the word.'

    I remember that always Uk guys blame USA guys that USA guys eat many letters for many words

    Perhaps you meant this:"I just remembered that guys from the UK always blame Americans for eating too many letters in their words."

    Apparently, no one HERE will be making the audit team... :no::P

  5. Well you can add a safe mode option to your boot menu so you can get into the safe mode without pressing F8.

    Press Windows + R to open the Run command.

    Type attrib C:\boot.ini -s -h -r

    Press Enter.

    Press Windows + R again

    Type notepad C:\boot.ini

    Press Enter.

    Now copy paste the last line to a new line and the end of the last line, add /SAFEBOOT:minimal

    Also change "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" to something like "XP Safemode" so that you can distinguish between the two choices.

    Change the timeout= to the amount of time you want the boot menu to be displayed (default is 30 seconds).

    Now when you boot your comp, you'll automatically get two choices, normal and safemode. It'll boot into normal mode by default.

    For eg, here's how my boot.ini would look like (may be different from yours so do not copy paste from this)

    [boot loader]
    timeout=5
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=alwaysoff /fastdetect
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="XP Safemode" /noexecute=alwaysoff /fastdetect /safeboot:minimal

    Now although this isn't exactly what you wanted, it does the trick. Now if you wanted it on your start menu though, I could write an elaborate .bat file to do it. And it would still qualify under your non-thidparty software requirement.

    This was a good trick mate

    I'm too interested to know how to put it in Start menu...and I will stop using this 3rd-party add on ofcourse :hello:

  6. I kept ODBCCP32.DLL and removed Jet Database Engine. Now MediaMonkey won't get past the logo on startup. Does anybody know the files needed from Jet Database Engine to run MediaMonkey?
    you must keep Jet Database Engine
