New to this board. After 3 weeks of searching the net and vendor forums I finally found this site! Know beforehand: my technical level is intermediate. Bought a box with XP Home. P4 3.2ghz onboard Relatek 880 HDA Reformatted drive and installed XP SP1. Then updated to SP2. Unable to install Realtek HD Audio drivers. ALways get "data is invalid". Tried unistall, reinstall. Does not work. Using latest 1.29a drivers and tried older versions. I think the problem is related to portcls.sys, at least this is the last file that install logs show before installation fails. I have noticed a number of posts on this board re: DRIVERPACKS and how to get the HDA system working. Oh, KB888111 is installed. Any help would be appreciated.
