    talked to several techs at hp and at our business, they suggested to reimage the system rather than trying to fix the problem. thanks for everyone's input.

    tried the w2k driver from hp, installed that, still same problem, checked the bios settings, tried both ecp and bi-directional. deleted the driver reference in the registry, no conflicts fount, any ideas?
