  1. Hello guys. I've been researching for a while on the wide internet. What I've not found is this: - How do I remove the properties display on the bottom of every Windows Explorer window. - Is there any better way than resource hacking to get rid of the command band/command bar on top of the Windows Explorer window? (i.e. I want the XP style Explorer back... it's much more useful and much less bloated) Greetings 3-R4Z0R
  2. Hello guys! I've been working really hard the last two days with my newest idea: Making Windows XP draw windows in 3D. After my research until now it seems fully possible to draw the windows in 3D, because somewhere those Windows are rendered to memory and not directly to the screen. More Info After I found this link I knew exactly where to start searching. And boy, he was right with PrintWindow() and the underlying functions. At the moment I'm researching the _GetDCEx() function, since it's there I get the Device context from which _NtGdiBitBlt() copies window content to the Device Context supplied in PrintWindow(). After getting down to the point that I know where the windows are rendered to (right now I'm researching about a window structure found by siwu), I'm going to read up about kernel-mode programming. This is needed, since the windows aren't rendered to user-space and hence aren't accessible with normal programs. It has to be a kernel-driver that stops windows from drawing windows on screen with the normal routines (still having to research about that) and by itself drawing the windows through DirectX on the screen. If there are any people here interested in joining me in my quest I would be really happy. I'm going to need somebody able of helping me with reverse-engineering all the needed functions and structures from win32k.sys (and more to come) and especially someone used to programming C++ for the kernel-mode drivers. Personally I'm not good enough at programming C++ for this task. Greetings 3-R4Z0R
  3. One question: Dead? Think it's like that, because I haven't heard anything here since a week. Once a week I think someone should be able to get online and support his project a little bit. GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  4. Back2Topic: When is XPGE going public? How's doing with the private beta? GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  5. Got shocked too... Phew, 1st April. I hadn't got it if there wasn't a post that said it was April 1st. Anyway, good luck with your project And how's doing with progress? GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  6. Any news? Sorry for being inpatient GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  7. By now it looks gorgeous! My favourite Games are working as well Can't wait for the public beta. How long will aegis torture me ? GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  8. I see, there's something going on here. But when will the first release be (next month, next year, etc.) ? I don't want you to feel stressed, I just wondered... In the screenshots, there's a startmenue, I thought, there will be no startmenue. Will it be removed? GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R

  10. How is the progress on the project? (Please give a little summary of main features, if you've got the time) GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R Edit: Isn't it going to work on x86 processors, but only x64?
  11. So then will the first release be soon? And: Are there any VB6 runtimes in the release? I'll need them for a gaming shell. (GameOS Shell, originally made for 9x, but will work on XP too.) GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  12. Non Cleartype. Personally I hate cleartype except for the really small (<8) fonts and really big (24+) in textdocuments. GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  13. What NTLDR are you using Aegis? Maybe I'll replace my standard XP version... GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R Edit: Are the VB6 runtimes in there? I'm going to need them...
  14. @Aegis: With the start program it would be an easy one to make a little start-manager to edit all those games some may have. With 5 menu options: add, remove, edit, run and exit. Estimated size: 100kb - 500kb. Maybe even adding a little icon manager in there too which stores the icons for games in an ini file. Use NTLDR from W2k3, it's a bit faster in managing the memory. It would improve a few fps (up to 5fps, not more). @gdogg: MS-DOS = Command.com XPGE = XP w/cmd.exe as shell. GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  15. @Aegis Maybe I would be able to program a little proggy for the game-management, like progman.exe. Doing some few subfolders and placing shortcuts in there. *.bat would be enough for these shortcuts. Just specify the location of some exe, add some parameters (i.e. for cs: hl.exe -game cstrike -console) and klick on OK. Then let the program generate a batch file of some KBs and add it to the main folder of the program. From there you may move it to other folders (i.e. fps, rpg, half-life, gta, etc.). Would suffice, so even a newbie would be able to use this program. Then: Integrate VM-Ware player so you may boot a normal XP for surfing the i-net and other things like this. Just put a standard VM-Ware machine (VMX-Builder) somewhere and write in readme where to put the virtual hd file. GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  16. I also tried messing around with the setup from WinXP. But when I remove about everything from these hive files, he will continue to copy every little file to the right folder even if he's not supposed to do that. What's the prob? BTW, I'm not going to make something superb, just a little cleanup of things I don't really need in XP, like these file types or maybe the explorer (progman.exe would do ) @Aegis: Why use cmd, if progman is about the same size and much more intuitive? (Think of W3.1...) GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  17. Are you programming it by yourself (writing your own proggys in C or something like that)? What type of address is in that format? I've never seen something like that... Could it be some kind of hex-code, because there isn't anything higher than "f"? GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  18. When will it be out? Will Steam be working? (If you don't have steam, just download it and try. You don't need a CD-KEY for Steam.) GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  19. Nice Even if it's 100meg, that doesn't bother me really, because new HDs are mostly over 100meg GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  20. 12V plug into a 5V plug? Was it a standard molex or what? I've always done that when I wanted a fan to rotate slowly... Anyways, I can't wait til January 6th Can you give some infos about the size and functions of GE? GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  21. Hopefully that beta will come soon... I like this, even if i haven't tested it yet GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  22. Is there anything new going to happen? I would like an alpha of Win GE, without gaming support, and later on a release with gaming support. GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
  23. Hi I love this idea. Plz release a beta asap, then the community may be able to help you out with games support and things like this. GreetZZ 3-R4Z0R
