  1. OK Tomcat. Attached my log file from 70202b. 1.2.2 will install IE7 but not IE7 hotfixes. Your latest test release suppose to slipstream IE7 hotfixes but end up IE is not installed. I think that's it in a nutshell. HFSLIP.txt
  2. Bug report 70202a or 70130c will not install IE7, which the stable release 1.2.2 have no problems. I been trying to slipstream IE7-KB929969-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe into my compilation which 1.2.2 will not do. Other than that, 1.2.2 will install IE7 and WMP 11 and other updates without any problems. I tried 70202a to see if I can slipstream IE7-KB929969-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe which is suppose to be supported but the end result is that IE 7 is not installed. WMP 11 is installed. There is not even an IE7 log in the Windows directory to indicate what errors occurred. There is an IE7 file in the svcpack directory and svcpack.inf, but no IE 7 after Windows completed installation. Attached the log file. HFSLIP.TXT
  3. I have no idea how nLite works in integrating IE7, but I do notice that IE7 no longer appear in my svcpack. I only use nLite for my x64 Windows, so it is not a direct comparison. HFSlip currently install IE7 from svcpack, and I tried to add KB929969 as a separate entry below IE7 but that does not work. You say that your KB929969 works. Can you give a bit more detail how you install IE7 and KB929969?
  4. There is 2 version of KB929969. 1. IE7-KB929969-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe - 761KB 2. WindowsXP-KB929969-x86-ENU.exe - 784KB The one that appear on my critical updates are WindowsXP-KB929969-x86-ENU.exe. I have no idea what IE7-KB929969-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe do..? HFSlip 1.2.2 will not slipstream either updates, as it will keep appearing when I run Windows Update. MSFN topic says that this update can only be installed after installing IE7 and reboot. Given the circumstances, I am now trying to see if it will install from my cmdlines.txt. I do not see how this can be solved unless IE 7 is slipstreamed, rather than a integrated install that 1.2.2 is currently doing, which I hope will be available in future iterations of HFSlip. Still, great work so far as I still prefer HFSlip to nLite.
  5. I successfully slipstream all the updates using HFSlip on a Dell and Acer OEM CD. I think I understand the confusion here since I went through it myself. 1. There should be 4 OEM files that must exist in the source folder. When you copy the i386 folder from the Dell Cd, the 4 files, i.e., oembios.dat, oembios.cat, oembios.bin and oembios.sig should already be present. If it is a Acer cd, you have to go to to windows\system32 directory and copy the 4 files to your source. This is because Acer cd uses ghost to image the hard drive, and the i386 directory do not have these 4 files. 2. This is the confusing bit. There is actually 2 product keys. The one on the sticker at the side of your notebook or pc will always REQUIRE activation. It is legit and will activate, but it is a pain in the butt. There is another product key that ties in with the oem files, and if you use that product key, then it is pre-activated. To find this product key, go to the winnt.sif file in your installed windows, or search the ini files in the system cd. You can also use keyfinder. My problem is that my Dell CD is quite new, and other than SP2, Dell has some pre-existing hotfixes in the svcpack directory. HFSlip will work, but will not integrate IE7. The Acer CD is older and have no other hotfixes other than SP2.
  6. Just thought I report some bugs on nLite 1.2.1. Previously, I use nLite 1.0.1 to slipstream NFM's Update packs into my Windows XP x64 DVD, together with some text mode drivers. Work perfectly. Updating my installation using 1.2.1 with addition of only IE7 x64 edition stuff up the installation. During text mode installation stage, it keeps reporting unable to find certain files. So I go back one step, and use exactly the same settings as when I successfully use 1.0.1, i.e., minus IE7, I use 1.2.1, and during text mode, the installtion also report that it cannot find the drivers files that I integrated. Using 1.0.1, it can be done but not with 1.2.1.
  7. Cannot access the website. Message:- HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden Internet Explorer Already refresh many times. I think there is some errors with the permission setting.
  8. Yeap..the fault lies in my FIX folder, I added in modified a couple of files which cause the problem of setup restarting. I do not know which file yet. Nontheless, I am sticking with the test release for now.
  9. OK. It worked. The installation went smoothly and Windows Update reports no new updates! 60808b will do until next patch day. Thanks.
  10. Well, now I am trying out 60808b as we speak. This time, I am leaving out everything from the FIX folder, so there should not be any extra factor.... OK..It worked! It gone into GUI setup mode without any restarting like the last time. I will report back if the setup completes successfully..or not.
  11. Confirmed HFSLIP 60804 does not work with the latest hotfixes released 8 Aug 2006. No errors was detected during the slipstreaming process. When using the completed iso file in VM for a test install, the text portion of the setup install went smoothly, then it rebooted to the start the GUI portion, at which point, it keep rebooting. I am now trying with 6808b, but I do not have high hopes it will work either. Still, wouldn't it be a pleasant suprise if it did.
  12. I finally got my installation working perfectly, then I noticed an article notifying that M$ will release another 10 hotfixes tomorrow... I just hope that the current HFSLIP 60804 will work on these hotfixes, or I have to wait for the next HFSLIP release...
  13. First, thanks for the support from Tomcat & Super-Magician. Second, I apologize for wasting anybody's time. It was my source files afterall. Somehow, it got corrupted although I been using it unchanged for HFSLIP purposes for months now. Somehow, somewhere it got corrupted. I got my backup virgin source and the error went away, and to think I wasted the last 72 hours trying to figure that out. Thanks for the great work.
  14. STOP PRESS... Looks like there is something wrong with my source files afterall. I will first rectify that, and see if that make the problem go away.
  15. OK. I retried. This time I eliminate most of the hotfixes, slipstreaming only MP10 and associated media hotfixes, plus the files in the cab directory,...AND I still get the same error. I attached the log and txtsetup.sif files for reference. TXTSETUP.zipHFSLIP.zip Next step, I will re-check my source and try a fresh install using just that, to see if the error lie with the source. Then, I will hfslip again with no cab files and all the freshly downloaded hotfixes. If the error still occur, I shoot myself or swear never to sfslip again, whichever easier
  16. Thanks Tomcat for your help. Attached is the txtsetup.sif in zip format. I already looked at the entry for mqrtdep.dll and it seems correct. I did not check other entries (I would not know where to look ) TXTSETUP.zip
  17. Thanks Super Magician, but still does not work. I took out the files as you proposed, but still have the same errors. I thought maybe the problem is machine-specific so I tried hfslip on another machine but have exactly the same error. My source files remains exactly the same, unaltered from previous successful hfslips. So the problem either lies in this version of hfslip or the hotfixes. The question is which? Attached in my zipped log file. HFSLIP.zip
  18. I been using HFSLIP for 3 months now, and so far it always work fine. However, I just cannot get the last to version to work. I am now using 60804. Attached is the HFSLIP.LOG file. All the files slpstreamed OK, and I detect no errors, but when I use the start to install, I keep getting error during textmode when the files are copied to the HDD. The error message indicate that setup cannot copy the file MQRTDEP.DLL. If I choose to skip the file, the installation continues with no further errors. I tried with VM, as well as burning to actual CD and install on a test pc, but the same error always appear. I checked the txtsetup.sif and dosnet.inf files and the entries for mqrtdep.dll seems to be correct. I am at wits end, and any help any of the experts here can extend is much appreciated.HFSLIP.7z
  19. I am using WPI 4.3.5 and found a strange bug. What I did is I create a multiples DVDs, one for my OS, one for my office apps, graphics, etc. I used WPI as the autorun file in each DVD to install my apps. I have no problem installing the OS, and then installing apps from the same CD or DVD. What I found that is some cases, where I have to change the CD or DVD ROM drive letter, because I just install a new hard drive (I like my hard disk to have consecutive drive letters), WPI will not install any apps because it state it cannot find the programs anymore. The same apply to notebooks, which only have CDROM drives. I install the OS from the CD-ROM. Then I attached the portable DVD-ROM to install the rest of the applications from a different DVD, and WPI will not be able to find the programs. The same DVD will run on a desktop machine provided the driver letter from which I install the OS's CD or DVD did not change. This lead to to believe when I run the first instance of WPI, i.e., after installing the OS, it left some sort of code somewhere that force WPI always to look the same drive letter, even though WPI.cmd detects the correct drive through use of the WPI.ico file at the root of the CD/DVD directories. This is a pain in the butt because I like to use WPI as an installer for all other apps, from which I can just tick what I want to install, go for coffee and come back after everything is installed. Anyone can help?
  20. Gosh, I was looking for a way of slipstreaming hotfixes into WinXP CDs, and after scouring the web I found this web site last week. I become an immediate follower, and the information I obtained here revolutionize the way I now install Windows XP. You and a few others like you have provided invaluable information, and I was going to try the reduce size CD, now that I successfully "master" the hotfixes and the unattended install. As with any other forums, you are going to find a cross section of people here. Some are novices like me, grateful for any scrap of information, some here to exchange ideas with fellow experts, some to share, and frankly, d*******s from all cross of life. At the end of day, you just have to trust that people here can differentiate the good from the bad. At the end of the day, people can see who help them, and who is out there just making a lot of hot air. I think Numinous just have a warped sense of humour and may be trying too hard to proof himself that he is as good as the rest of the experts here. If this is obvious to one who is just here for one week, it should also be obvious to the rest of the members. Life is too short to get p*** off over the inconsenquential.
  21. Does anybody find that after installing the Update Rollup 1, be it using Express or in the SVCPACK, it still appears on the Windows Update site? Even reinstalling the Rollup makes no difference. Is this another MS "feature"?
