  1. Thanks, what you suggested didn't work, cause I could only remove the partition and wasn't able to import it, but you pushed me in the right direction. I made the disk dynamic and than was able to give it a disk character, so now i can explore and see all my files again...

    Thank you for the quick reply!!!

    Grtz...

    Je bent welkom....

  2. Hello, a few days ago I formatted my drive with windows XP on it, I do this frequently and no errors occured, but when I came in windows, I couldn't find my second hard disk..

    After searching and looking everywhere, I have found it in the hardware manager an it's also in computermanagement.

    The only problem is that it doesn't have a disk character like C:\ or D:\ and I'm not able to change it...or rename it or format it, just remove the partition...

    It has all my personal documents, I have them backed up, but I would rather not format it, anyone here who can help me out?

    Import disk is your friend :)

    Every time you remove or import disks to a computer, you must click the Action menu, click Rescan Disks, and then verify that the disk information is correct.

    You can move multiple disks from different computers to a computer by installing the disks, opening Disk Management, right-clicking any of the new disks, and then clicking Import Foreign Disks. When importing multiple disks from different computers, always import all of the disks from one computer at a time. For example, if you want to move disks from two computers, import disks from the first computer and then import disks from the second computer.

  3. My friends computer is completely un-funtional. Has so much mal-ware i was unable to save it. I was able to save it the first time around then he didnt maintain it again and now i cant control it. So i came up with the decision of reformatting. Although i dont have the reformat CD for the harddrive. Is there anyway i can reformat his PC w/out having the HDD CD? If so please suggest.

    Thanks,

    Matrix ;)

    ;) format c: ;) wil do the thing you want, i hoop you know that you have to boot with dos or win95, 98 boot disk

  4. let me get this strait...you want applications, graphics and other things for a projet you lead, code and design??

    What wil your job be exactly? Whats the project is like to be?

    I hope you solved your problem adding registry settings to a unattended install by then ;):blushing:;)

    I have read over here, but not 100% knowledgable yet.

    How exactly do I add registery tweaks to my unattended installation of windows xp sp2, so when windows is installing, these registery tweaks are installed as well (aka, Loginui.exe)

    Is there a way for all of this to install during windows installation to where when I first see my desktop, the changes are already there?

    Thanks,

    Emac

  5. cheers for the info. Looks like handwriting them on the back of the cd case will be best then

    try with these settings

  6. I made the unattended.mst myself according to this guide http://unattended.msfn.org/intermediate/ap...03_advanced.htm and the BukeyEYE tutorial about Shrinking

    and yeah btw, Me and My friends share the knowledge nothing else

    If i am not mistaking....you can build a mst file based on your actual installed office.

    got to look that up...been awile sins i have build/rebuild a mst.

    But i am sure you can do that Options > Complex scripts > Numeral > Arabic thingy

  7. @qwerty1:

    As i said above kerio installs but for some reason not on the administrators account
    what you mean by not created? not as user(administrator)? or this accounts(administrator) settings?

    i am pretty sure that your administartor account is created as "user(administrator)" in usermanager.

    and

    The last problem is with the administrators account,

    after ive logged on with the user account ive created call it

    (qwerty) for the first time, the admin account does not show up in my

    computer or in documents and settings. I done a restart and logged

    in to the administrators account and looked in my computer and the two

    user accounts are present administrator and qwerty/ I done another restart

    and logged into the qwerty account now administrator account is showing in my computer.

    Whats happening there and how can i fix the problem.

    The systemfolders for a account are only created after first logon of that account even if its a administrator account.

    i suggest to logon once administartor to create the needed directories and settings.

    Use therefore the autologon in

    [GuiUnattended]
    AutoLogonCount = 1
    Saddly this can not be done id you use the
    [GuiUnattended]
    EncryptedAdminPassword = Yes

    Comments

    The default value is No.

    • If you use this entry to install an encrypted Administrator password during an unattended installation,

    Th setup disables Autologon

    @SolidasRock:

    "i create a new account because the "administrator" account disappears from logon when create a second account."

    Show Administrator on the Welcome Screen (Windows XP Professional)

    When logging into Windows the Administrator account is not normally available on the Welcome screen.

    This tweak adds it to the Welcome screen and allows you to login like a normal account.

    System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\
    SpecialAccounts\UserList]
    Value Name: Administrator
    Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
    Value Data: (1 = show Administrator)

    hope it get's u wiser...

    also try to use the quote and code tags more often

  8. hey guyz, I have shrunken the office 2003 into 7ip and everything waz cool so far

    but when I'm trying to type in arabic, the numbers appears Indian rather Arabic Numbers, then I have to change it manully from Options > Complex scripts > Numeral > Arabic which is so annoyaing.

    and the more annoying that when I gave the CD to newbie friends, they don't know how to change the numeral look of the numbers and they go to the Regional Settings to mess alot of things up! ;)

    so How can I Unattendely configure this option from Indian to Arabic Numbers?

    plz this is so so crucial for my uAXPSP2 CD :blink:

    so you give your copy of office and other stuff to friends? mhm...sounds illegal.

    but to answer your question...try looking at your unattende.mst, recreate it with the good settings instead of using the one from someone else.

  9. hi folks, :hello:

    so i've some similar problems like Morkeleb, especailly MS Office XP.

    most problems disapeared as i used the verbose-mode (wtf? no idea ... never mind :P ) but Office installation still ends with the error code 00000656 - any idea? how can i found out what this error-code means?

    Thanks for help!

    PS: commandline: OfficeXP\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Unattended.MST /qb-

    Installation works fine with RunOnceEx-Method

    Office 2003 don't install at t12, but there seems to be a workaround somehow.

    Do a search on t12 + office 2003.

    Infact do a search always before questions made....

  10. sure about this "system files"

    \\192.168.58.1\"system files"\"Microsoft Office 2000 Professional"\Setup\Disc1\SETUP.EXE transforms="\\192.168.58.1\system files\Microsoft Office 2000 Professional\Setup\Disc1\unattended.MST" /qb-

    I don't understand the double quotes there???, remove them...aswel as the others.

    So if you have spaces in your path open and close with double quotes...

    start /wait " \\192.168.58.1\system files\Microsoft Office 2000 Professional\Setup\Disc1\SETUP.EXE transforms=\\192.168.58.1\system files\Microsoft Office 2000 Professional\Setup\Disc1\unattended.MST /qb-"

    Try this one and let me know...

    dv

  11. ECHO.
    ECHO Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition 7.6
    start /wait \\192.168.58.1\vphome\clt-inst\WIN32\SETUP.EXE /S

    Executes setup, but doesnt run silently.

    ECHO.
    ECHO Microsoft Office 2000 Professional
    start \\192.168.58.1\"system files"\"Microsoft Office 2000 Professional"\Setup\Disc1\SETUP.EXE transforms="\\192.168.58.1\system files\Microsoft Office 2000 Professional\Setup\Disc1\unattended.MST" /qb-
    start ]\\192.168.58.1\"system files"\"Microsoft Office 2000 Professional"\Setup\Disc2\SETUP.EXE transforms="\\192.168.58.1\system files\Microsoft Office 2000 Professional\Setup\Disc2\unattended2.MST" /qb-

    Executes the first disc (setup) and installs silently. But as soon as its executed the other executes.

    How can I delay it until setup has finished?

    ECHO Microsoft Office 2000 Professional

    start /wait \\192.168.58.1\"system files"\"Microsoft Office 2000 Professional"\Setup\Disc1\SETUP.EXE transforms="\\192.168.58.1\system files\Microsoft Office 2000 Professional\Setup\Disc1\unattended.MST" /qb-

    start /wait \\192.168.58.1\"system files"\"Microsoft Office 2000 Professional"\Setup\Disc2\SETUP.EXE transforms="\\192.168.58.1\system files\Microsoft Office 2000 Professional\Setup\Disc2\unattended2.MST" /qb-[/

    See it?

  12. Hello everyone,

    What it can do:

    - Dragging and Dropping Installation Entry around, no more manual editing!

    - Opening the existing .ini file, only installation entries is supported for now

    - Has some pre-defined command line switch for certain installer types (that is in the msfn unattended guides)

    - Automatically generate the .ini file from the selected wihu folder, to use this feature you will have to place your apps you wish to be put into the script in the same folder as wihu.exe. The program will be categorized them using the folder they reside in. Especially for .msi and .reg it will automatically select the switch for you.

    Note: The command line generated will be relative path to Wihu (the %WIHU% is placed in place of absolute path)

    hello nant15,

    It's been long time ago that i visited the forum.

    Nice to see people are still having fun in creating new applictions to make life easier for creating a unattended.

    I was and still am a first time user of WIHU so i was charmed by your ini file creator.

    Some remarks (bugs): :P

    1 Dragging and Dropping Installation Entry around, no more manual editing!

    Not here does not work... :(

    2 Has some pre-defined command line switch for certain installer types (that is in the msfn unattended guides)

    Does not work either here, not with registry import (tested). It does not save this settings either.

    3 Especially for .msi and .reg it will automatically select the switch for you.

    Non of my imported programs was recognized and recieved a switch.

    Some suggestion...

    When saving back to ini is it not possibles not to parse lines that are not used?

    example, i only need/use

    description.0=DVD2One 1.5.1

    command.0=%WIHU%\REG\DVD2ONE.REG

    selected.0=1

    but the creator parses to the ini:

    description.0=DVD2One 1.5.1

    command.0=%WIHU%\REG\DVD2ONE.REG

    selected.0=1

    hidden.0=1

    collapsed.0=0

    locked.0=0

    disabled.0=0

    group.0=0

    flags.0=

    workdir.0=

    helptext.0=

    ext_creator_switchtype.0=0

    ext_creator_originalcommand.0=%WIHU%\REG\DVD2ONE.REG

    Anyway, still think its a timesaver...

    If you need more indepth info...just yell

    congrats

  13. @visaversa

    That looks really interesting, can you post a link to snapshot's home page?

    yes, of course, the link is in my first post.

    I, we use it all the time, after a full install we take a snap to a seperate partition.

    automate it via the scheduler. It runs and even backup open files without problems.

    oh, and lets not forget the price: SNAPSHOT Workstation License Email Version EUR 39.- thats about $42 peanuts...

  14. you can't just swap the dat files cause when you do that dat has the wrong links in it...

    try it some time say swap bills with toms dat...

    toms dat points at toms file folders no matter where you put it...

    visa versa... bills always points at bills links...

    when you create a new user from the default user the windows built in stuff changes the links to links to the new file folders for the new users...

    No it does not piont to whatever folder, if you read my guide you notice that after creating a suitable profile you just copy that to the default user profile.

    then doe as i do.In no way toms dat points at toms file folders because they are all replaced by %username% and thus can be used for every user....

    I think that was what viper meanted to do, copy a fully tweaked profile to the default one. That's excactly wehat i describe on my topic, how to do that.

    Look again here then tell me if i am wrong

  15. You can.

    I first tried doing during the unattended install, could not get it to work since the profile was nor total created yet. was going to edit the HIVEDEF.INF, but was WWAAAYYY to much work.

    So, I do copy it after a autologon. A installer account logs in and is only used for installing. just make sure you check the attrib of the ntuser.dat (c:\documents and settings\default user\ntuser.dat). I do not remember at this time is XP was hidden or if it was win2k. either way just check it. It will fail if it is hidden.

    This has worked great for us.

    attrib -h "c:\documents and settings\default user\ntuser.dat"

    copy /y %systemdrive%\misc\ntuser.dat "c:\documents and settings\default user\ntuser.dat"

    M

    i don't understand why during the unattended install you could not get it to work.

    If you place your profile in" \$OEM$\$docs\Default User\ntuser.dat " it get copied to your system AS the default profile you created.

    I rteally see no reason why you should use an other way to copy that profile.

    Just my 2cents...

    Want more information about this subject? go here a topic i devoted to this techniek...

  16. maybe a bit oftopic but why do you use

    FileSystem=*

    Repartition=No

    if your not partitioning there is no neet to use the filesystem*

    and why use

    ProgramFilesDir="C:\Program Files"

    CommonProgramFilesDir="C:\Program Files\Common Files"

    ProfilesDir="C:\Documents and Settings\"

    they already are the defaults so i would let them uot the winnt.sif.

    Oh and

    [userData]ProductKey=*****-*****-*****-*****-*****

    FullName=""

    OrgName=""

    ComputerName=

    if you need to run completely unattended you HAVE to fill in the computername, thats what i am thinking about your problem....just a tought...
