  1. I originally created a nlite install with "Standard PC", then realized this might have been the problem and re-did the Nlite iso and changed that to ACPI Multiprocessor PC. Burned a new iso and rebuilt the PC and its still doing the same thing! I installed the AMD drivers and updates and Device Mgr still shows the pc as a standard pc. I tried to change that but there were no options for Multiprocessor when updating the driver! I also tried to manually change the dll's to the Multiprocessor ones and that failed on reboot as it said the hal.dll was modified (of course it was, that was the plan?). Any suggestions on getting this nlite build (1.4) Xp SP2 working with an AMD dual core cpu? 2. No one has ever seen this problem before?? It does seem Really weird to me too...Never seen anything like it...
  3. Well, I did a complete new install, with a newly made nlite CD. I removed KB920342 from the latest update packs. All went well, and I even slipstreamed a MCE theme which is working!!! HOWEVER, FOR SOME REASON....THE THEME STILL GOES TO CLASSIC FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS, THEN REVERTS BACK. This has happened 3-4 times in the last 24 hrs. Sometimes It will just change the current window, then others the task bar also .. Ad-Aware and AV Clean!!! Any advice? Here is a quick screen shot:
  4. I agree with you and will do a fresh one. In fact I will nlite another cd with more updates, and try it in vm first... Thanks for all the HELP .............................
  5. So does this mean I am stuck with classic themes on this pc forever, unless I re-build it? kinda....but next time u should try your nlited cd in vmware or virtual pc. boogy....I just tried this same nlited cd in vm workstation, and the THEMES WORK GREAT!!!! I can go from classic to xp, and they work perfect each time. So its working on vm but not on the pc.?? maybe I can do a repair install???
  6. Yea, I will most likely do that next...THANKS for all the help.... Last question: Would I be able to use a style prog like Windows Blinds, or will that also not even work???
  7. So does this mean I am stuck with classic themes on this pc forever, unless I re-build it?
  8. I downloaded Uxtheme Multi-patcher 5.0 and UXTheme Patch For Windows XP SP2 Final. Both did not seem to work. I think its something else since I cant even get the default xp themes to work, much less 3rd party???
  9. I can click on the luna theme and it will change the wallpaper to the XP background, but nothing else will change!?!?!?!? C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes\classic.the C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes\Luna C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes\Luna.theme C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes\Luna\luna.mst C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\Homestead C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\Metallic C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\NormalColor C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\Homestead\home_ss.dll C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\Metallic\metal_ss.dll C:\WINDOWS.0\Resources\Themes\Luna\Shell\NormalColor\blue_ss.dll
  10. I don't see that KB listed for the update pack I used (2.1.5). And of course now windows does not have a quick way to remove it since its slipstreamed if it was ever installed? Is there a way to remove this without re-building everything again?
  11. Negative. I only have classic to choose from. I copied shellstyle.dll from another pc, rebooted and still same problem. However, I was able to fix the add\rem programs error by coping the new shellstyle.dll??? When I browse to the themes folder and double click on the Luna theme, the background is correct, but the rest does not change
  12. Thanks Nuhi. I copied the shellstyle.dll from another pc and that did the trick Still having issues with the theme for some reason? http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=93011
  13. I am not at the pc now, so I will check. I remember locating the theme itself and clicking it, which changed the background, but not the windows. I dont think it was listed as luna in the drop down either....I will verify shortly......
  14. Cool, just read a few threads mentioning this, maybe that was an older version? Thanks.... boooggy bledd, no other styles installed. This is the only style mod: DesktopTheme = Windows XP style|Default (blue)|Normal size I can try xpize, but prefer not to do a new install.... B)
  15. Any ideas? I am using Boooggy's WMP11Addon which might be part of the problem from what I hear? I am also not getting any visualizations in WMP11 either? Not sure if this is related or not.. HELP....... B)
  16. using nlite 1.3. I can only choose the classic theme. Themes service is running. Any ideas? I would like to fix without re-compiling nlite and re-installing.... 19. I have not tried to replace those specific files from Win2k, but I did try to use non-SP1 of Win2k3 to do this install thinking that SP1 was the culprit.....NO GO.......Same error on first boot. I put it back to 4KB clusters and let Win2k3 build
  20. Are you saying that R2 will work fine by itself, and\or if I copy only those files? I did not know R2 was known to work? I guess I will start "looking around for it" ....
  21. Hey bud....Thats a good question as Win2k3 might not work at all, or it might have diff files that were changed with SP1.....I have not found an orig Win2k3 CD yet... I dont have R2 yet Not sure if that would work, but it would be nice to have... Using a DFI Ultra MB with Nvidia NF4 chipset.... B)
  22. That post refers to XP w/SP2. I am running Win2k3 SP1. I thought I would do the same and use the recommendations from pre-SP1. Well after doing that with an old Win2k3 disc I found, it did not work. However, I am not too sure the quality of that disc, so I will get a "good" copy of Win2k3 tomorrow and try again. Camarade_Tux: I actually used BartPE but used the native cmd line to format it.....So no 3rd party tols involved there I think the formating is fine, its just Win2k3 with SP1??
  23. Would it be possible that RC3 would work? I did use RC1 since thats the only vers that I could get working with .Net? Thanks
