  1. I'm having the same issue, I believe what your running into is Intel dropped support on the ICH5 controller and picked up support for ICH8. You could try adjusting the bios setting for the controller to use standard SATA/ATA and not use the AHCI configuration if present. The desktop image that I have works on about 32 different models (uni-processor and dual core), it does not run on the Dell P380. Your laptop may be in the same boat. Intel has a posting on their website that indicates they do not support ICH5 and ICH8 controllers with the same device driver. You will most likely need two images, one that supports uniprocessors using the old iastor.sys driver and another that supports dual core processors with the new iastor.sys driver. I doubt your going to find the new controller on machines that are single core. I could only see that happening if you upgrade the disk controller with an after market card that supoports ich8 but not ich5. Hope that helps.
